Καὶ διαγενομένου τοῦ σαββάτου (ἡ) Μαρία Μαγδαληνὴ καὶ Μαρία τοῦ Ἰακώβου καὶ Σαλώμη ἠγόρασαν ἀρώματα ἵνα ἐλθοῦσαι ἀλείψωσιν αὐτόν When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.
καὶ λίαν πρωῒ τῇ μιᾷ τῶν σαββάτων ἔρχονται ἐπὶ τὸ μνημεῖον* ἀνατείλαντος τοῦ ἡλίου And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb
καὶ ἔλεγον πρὸς ἑαυτάς Τίς ἀποκυλίσει ἡμῖν τὸν λίθον ἐκ τῆς θύρας τοῦ μνημείου And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”
καὶ ἀναβλέψασαι θεωροῦσιν ὅτι ἀποκεκύλισται* λίθος ἦν γὰρ μέγας σφόδρα And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
Καὶ εἰσελθοῦσαι εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον εἶδον νεανίσκον καθήμενον ἐν τοῖς δεξιοῖς περιβεβλημένον στολὴν λευκήν καὶ ἐξεθαμβήθησαν And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
δὲ λέγει αὐταῖς Μὴ ἐκθαμβεῖσθε Ἰησοῦν ζητεῖτε τὸν Ναζαρηνὸν τὸν ἐσταυρωμένον ἠγέρθη οὐκ ἔστιν ὧδε ἴδε τόπος ὅπου ἔθηκαν αὐτόν And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.
ἀλλὰ ὑπάγετε εἴπατε τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ τῷ Πέτρῳ ὅτι Προάγει ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν ἐκεῖ αὐτὸν ὄψεσθε καθὼς εἶπεν ὑμῖν But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’”
