15	וַיִּכְל֥וּ הַמַּ֖יִם מִן־ הַחֵ֑מֶת וַתַּשְׁלֵ֣ךְ אֶת־ הַיֶּ֔לֶד תַּ֖חַת אַחַ֥ד הַשִּׂיחִֽם׃	When the water in the skin was gone, she put the child under one of the bushes.	When the water in the skin was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes.
16	וַתֵּלֶךְ֩ וַתֵּ֨שֶׁב לָ֜הּ מִנֶּ֗גֶד הַרְחֵק֙ כִּמְטַחֲוֵ֣י קֶ֔שֶׁת כִּ֣י אָֽמְרָ֔ה אַל־ אֶרְאֶ֖ה בְּמ֣וֹת הַיָּ֑לֶד וַתֵּ֣שֶׁב מִנֶּ֔גֶד וַתִּשָּׂ֥א אֶת־ קֹלָ֖הּ וַתֵּֽבְךְּ׃	Then she went and sat down opposite him a good way off, about the distance of a bowshot, for she said, “Let me not look on the death of the child.” And as she sat opposite him, she lifted up her voice and wept.	Then she went off and sat down about a bowshot away, for she thought, “I cannot watch the boy die.” And as she sat there, she began to sob.
17	וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע אֱלֹהִים֮ אֶת־ ק֣וֹל הַנַּעַר֒ וַיִּקְרָא֩ מַלְאַ֨ךְ אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ אֶל־ הָגָר֙ מִן־ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיֹּ֥אמֶר לָ֖הּ מַה־ לָּ֣ךְ הָגָ֑ר אַל־ תִּ֣ירְאִ֔י כִּֽי־ שָׁמַ֧ע אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶל־ ק֥וֹל הַנַּ֖עַר בַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הוּא־ שָֽׁם׃	And God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.	God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.
18	ק֚וּמִי שְׂאִ֣י אֶת־ הַנַּ֔עַר וְהַחֲזִ֥יקִי אֶת־ יָדֵ֖ךְ בּ֑וֹ כִּֽי־ לְג֥וֹי גָּד֖וֹל אֲשִׂימֶֽנּוּ׃	Up! Lift up the boy, and hold him fast with your hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”	Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”
19	וַיִּפְקַ֤ח אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־ עֵינֶ֔יהָ וַתֵּ֖רֶא בְּאֵ֣ר מָ֑יִם וַתֵּ֜לֶךְ וַתְּמַלֵּ֤א אֶת־ הַחֵ֙מֶת֙ מַ֔יִם וַתַּ֖שְׁקְ אֶת־ הַנָּֽעַר׃	Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.	Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
20	וַיְהִ֧י אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶת־ הַנַּ֖עַר וַיִּגְדָּ֑ל וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר וַיְהִ֖י רֹבֶ֥ה קַשָּֽׁת׃	And God was with the boy, and he grew up. He lived in the wilderness and became an expert with the bow.	God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an archer.
21	וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב בְּמִדְבַּ֣ר פָּארָ֑ן וַתִּֽקַּֽח־ ל֥וֹ אִמּ֛וֹ אִשָּׁ֖ה מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ פ	He lived in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.	While he was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from Egypt.
22	וַֽיְהִי֙ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔וא וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ וּפִיכֹל֙ שַׂר־ צְבָא֔וֹ אֶל־ אַבְרָהָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר אֱלֹהִ֣ים עִמְּךָ֔ בְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־ אַתָּ֖ה עֹשֶֽׂה׃	At that time Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army said to Abraham, “God is with you in all that you do.	At that time Abimelek and Phicol the commander of his forces said to Abraham, “God is with you in everything you do.
23	וְעַתָּ֗ה הִשָּׁ֨בְעָה לִּ֤י בֵֽאלֹהִים֙ הֵ֔נָּה אִם־ תִּשְׁקֹ֣ר לִ֔י וּלְנִינִ֖י וּלְנֶכְדִּ֑י כַּחֶ֜סֶד אֲשֶׁר־ עָשִׂ֤יתִי עִמְּךָ֙ תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה עִמָּדִ֔י וְעִם־ הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־ גַּ֥רְתָּה בָּֽהּ׃	Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my descendants or with my posterity, but as I have dealt kindly with you, so you will deal with me and with the land where you have sojourned.”	Now swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or my descendants. Show to me and the country where you now reside as a foreigner the same kindness I have shown to you.”
24	וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַבְרָהָ֔ם אָנֹכִ֖י אִשָּׁבֵֽעַ׃	And Abraham said, “I will swear.”	Abraham said, “I swear it.”
25	וְהוֹכִ֥חַ אַבְרָהָ֖ם אֶת־ אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ עַל־ אֹדוֹת֙ בְּאֵ֣ר הַמַּ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֥ר גָּזְל֖וּ עַבְדֵ֥י אֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃	When Abraham reproved Abimelech about a well of water that Abimelech’s servants had seized,	Then Abraham complained to Abimelek about a well of water that Abimelek’s servants had seized.
26	וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ לֹ֣א יָדַ֔עְתִּי מִ֥י עָשָׂ֖ה אֶת־ הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וְגַם־ אַתָּ֞ה לֹא־ הִגַּ֣דְתָּ לִּ֗י וְגַ֧ם אָנֹכִ֛י לֹ֥א שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי בִּלְתִּ֥י הַיּֽוֹם׃	Abimelech said, “I do not know who has done this thing; you did not tell me, and I have not heard of it until today.”	But Abimelek said, “I don’t know who has done this. You did not tell me, and I heard about it only today.”
27	וַיִּקַּ֤ח אַבְרָהָם֙ צֹ֣אן וּבָקָ֔ר וַיִּתֵּ֖ן לַאֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ וַיִּכְרְת֥וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם בְּרִֽית׃	So Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two men made a covenant.	So Abraham brought sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelek, and the two men made a treaty.
28	וַיַּצֵּ֣ב אַבְרָהָ֗ם אֶת־ שֶׁ֛בַע כִּבְשֹׂ֥ת הַצֹּ֖אן לְבַדְּהֶֽן׃	Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock apart.	Abraham set apart seven ewe lambs from the flock,
29	וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ אֶל־ אַבְרָהָ֑ם מָ֣ה הֵ֗נָּה שֶׁ֤בַע כְּבָשֹׂת֙ הָאֵ֔לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִצַּ֖בְתָּ לְבַדָּֽנָה׃	And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs that you have set apart?”	and Abimelek asked Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs you have set apart by themselves?”
30	וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֚י אֶת־ שֶׁ֣בַע כְּבָשֹׂ֔ת תִּקַּ֖ח מִיָּדִ֑י בַּעֲבוּר֙ תִּֽהְיֶה־ לִּ֣י לְעֵדָ֔ה כִּ֥י חָפַ֖רְתִּי אֶת־ הַבְּאֵ֥ר הַזֹּֽאת׃	He said, “These seven ewe lambs you will take from my hand, that this may be a witness for me that I dug this well.”	He replied, “Accept these seven lambs from my hand as a witness that I dug this well.”
31	עַל־ כֵּ֗ן קָרָ֛א לַמָּק֥וֹם הַה֖וּא בְּאֵ֣ר שָׁ֑בַע כִּ֛י שָׁ֥ם נִשְׁבְּע֖וּ שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃	Therefore that place was called Beersheba, because there both of them swore an oath.	So that place was called Beersheba, because the two men swore an oath there.
32	וַיִּכְרְת֥וּ בְרִ֖ית בִּבְאֵ֣ר שָׁ֑בַע וַיָּ֣קָם אֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ וּפִיכֹל֙ שַׂר־ צְבָא֔וֹ וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ אֶל־ אֶ֥רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃	So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army rose up and returned to the land of the Philistines.	After the treaty had been made at Beersheba, Abimelek and Phicol the commander of his forces returned to the land of the Philistines.
33	וַיִּטַּ֥ע אֶ֖שֶׁל בִּבְאֵ֣ר שָׁ֑בַע וַיִּ֨קְרָא־ שָׁ֔ם בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהוָ֖ה אֵ֥ל עוֹלָֽם׃	Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.	Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD, the Eternal God.
34	וַיָּ֧גָר אַבְרָהָ֛ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים יָמִ֥ים רַבִּֽים׃ פ	And Abraham sojourned many days in the land of the Philistines.	And Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for a long time.
