1 And in the arriving of the day of Pentecost, they were all together at the same place. When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
2 And suddenly a sound like a violent rushing of wind came out of heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them dividing tongues as of fire, and they sat upon each one of them. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit was giving to them to declare forth. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

6 Now this sound having happened, the multitude came together and was confounded, because each one was hearing them speaking in his own language. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
7 And they were amazed and were marveling, saying, “Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?
8 And how do we each hear our own language in which we were born? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites; and those inhabiting Mesopotamia, also Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 both Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya that are around Cyrene; and those visiting from Rome, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome
11 both Jews and converts; Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the great things of God!” both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”
12 And all were amazed and were perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this wish to be?” And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
13 But others, mocking, were saying, “They are full of new wine!” But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.” Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”
14 But Peter, having stood up with the Eleven, lifted up his voice and declared forth to them: “Men of Judea and all those inhabiting Jerusalem, let this be known to you⁺, and give heed to my words. But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
15 For these are not drunkards, as you⁺ suppose, for it is the third hour of the day! For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning!
16 But this is that having been spoken by the prophet Joel: But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 ‘And it will come to pass in the last days, God says, that I will pour out from My Spirit upon all flesh, and your⁺ sons and your⁺ daughters will prophesy, and your⁺ young men will see visions, and your⁺ old men will dream dreams. “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; “’In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18 And even on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out from My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke. And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming Day of the Lord, great and glorious. the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. 22 Men, Israelites, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man having been set forth by God to you⁺ by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did through Him in your⁺ midst, as you yourselves know, “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.
23 Him delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you⁺ put to death, having crucified by lawless hands— this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
24 whom God raised up, having loosed the agony of death, inasmuch as it was not possible for Him to be held by it. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.
25 For David says about Him: ‘I foresaw the Lord before me through all, because He is at my right hand, that I should not be shaken. For David says concerning him, “‘I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken; David said about him: “’I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
26 Because of this my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced, and now also my flesh will dwell in hope, therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; my flesh also will dwell in hope. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope,
27 for You will not abandon my soul into Hades, nor will You give Your Holy One to see decay. For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption. because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay.
28 You made known to me the paths of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence.’ You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’ You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’
29 Men, brothers, it is permitted me to speak with freedom to you⁺ concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day, “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.
30 being therefore a prophet and knowing that God swore to him with an oath to seat one out of the fruit of his loins upon his throne. Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.
31 Having foreseen, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was He abandoned into Hades, nor did His flesh see decay. he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay.
32 This Jesus God raised up, of which we all are witnesses. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.
33 Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of God and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He poured out this which you⁺ both see and hear. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, “’The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you⁺ crucified.” Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
37 And having heard, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Men, brothers, what shall we do?” Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 And Peter says to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you⁺, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your⁺ sins, and you⁺ will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you⁺ and to your⁺ children and to all those at a distance, as many as the Lord our God shall summon.” For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
40 And he earnestly testified many other words and was exhorting them, saying, “Be saved from this crooked generation.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
41 Therefore those indeed having received his word were baptized, and on that day about three thousand souls were added. So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
42 Now they were steadfastly continuing in the teaching of the apostles and in the fellowship, in the breaking of the bread and in the prayers. And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 45 And they were selling the possessions and the goods and were dividing them to all, as anyone had need. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
46 And every day they were steadfastly continuing with one accord in the temple and breaking bread at each house. They were partaking of food with gladness and sincerity of heart, And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord kept adding every day to the same those being saved. praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
