1 Now Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth. Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon.
2 And a certain man was being carried, being lame from his mother’s womb, whom they placed every day at the temple gate called Beautiful to ask for alms from those going into the temple, And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.
3 who, having seen Peter and John being about to enter into the temple, was asking to receive alms. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.
4 And Peter, having looked intently upon him, with John, said, “Look toward us!” And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!”
5 And he began to give heed to them, expecting to receive something from them. And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6 But Peter said, “Silver and gold, unto me there is none; but what I have, this I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
7 And having taken him by the right hand, he raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were strengthened. And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.
8 And leaping up, he stood and began walking, and he entered into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God, And all the people saw him walking and praising God, When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
10 and they recognized him, that he was the one sitting for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at that having happened to him. and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
11 Now of him clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the colonnade called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s. While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.
12 But having seen, Peter answered to the people: “Men, Israelites, why do you⁺ wonder at this? Or why do you⁺ look intently on us as if by our own power or godliness we have made him to walk? And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk? When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?
13 The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, whom indeed you⁺ delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, that one having adjudged to release Him. The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.
14 But you⁺ denied the Holy and Righteous One and requested a man, a murderer, to be granted to you⁺. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.
15 And you⁺ killed the Author of life, whom God raised out from the dead, of which we are witnesses. and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.
16 And on the faith in His name, this man whom you⁺ see and know, His name strengthened; and the faith that is through Him has given to him this complete soundness before all of you⁺. And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all. By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.
17 And now, brothers, I know that you⁺ acted in ignorance, as your⁺ rulers also. “And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. “Now, fellow Israelites, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders.
18 But what God foretold through the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ should suffer, He thus fulfilled. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled. But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer.
19 Repent, therefore, and turn back, for the blotting out of your⁺ sins, Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
20 so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the One having been appointed to you⁺, Christ Jesus, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.
21 whom indeed it is necessary for heaven to receive until the times of restoration of all things, of which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from the age. whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago. Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.
22 Indeed Moses said, ‘The Lord your⁺ God will raise up to you⁺ a prophet like me out of your⁺ brothers. You⁺ will listen to Him in all things, as many as He might say to you⁺. Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you. For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.
23 And it will come to pass that every soul who might not heed that prophet will be utterly destroyed out of the people.’ And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.’ Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’
24 And also all the prophets from Samuel, and those subsequently, as many as have spoken—they also proclaimed these days. And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days. “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days.
25 You⁺ are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your⁺ fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth will be blessed.’ You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’ And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’
26 God, having raised up His servant, sent Him first to you⁺, blessing you⁺ in turning away each one from your⁺ wickednesses.” God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness.” When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
