1 The first account, indeed, I made concerning all the things, O Theophilus, that Jesus began both to do and to teach, In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach
2 until the day in which, having given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom He chose, He was taken up, until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.
3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, with many convincing proofs, being seen by them through forty days and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God. 4 And being assembled together, He instructed them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to await the promise of the Father: “That which you⁺ heard of Me; And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.
5 for John indeed baptized with water, but you⁺ will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days after these.” for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
6 Therefore indeed those having come together were asking Him, saying, “Lord, at this time do You restore the kingdom to Israel?” So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7 And He said to them, “It is not yours⁺ to know times or seasons that the Father set by His own authority. He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.
8 But you⁺ will receive power at the Holy Spirit having come upon you⁺, and you⁺ will be My witnesses, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 And having said these things, in their looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him from their eyes. And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10 And as they were looking intently into heaven in His going, then behold, two men in white apparel stood by them, And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.
11 who also said, “Men, Galileans, why do you⁺ stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, having been taken up from you⁺ into heaven, will thus come in that manner you⁺ saw Him going into heaven.” and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, holding a Sabbath’s journey. Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away. Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.
13 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying, both Peter and John, and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 All these were steadfastly continuing with one accord in prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
15 And in these days, Peter, having risen up in the midst of the brothers, said (and the multitude of names at the same place was about a hundred twenty), In those days Peter stood up among the brothers (the company of persons was in all about 120) and said, In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty)

18 (Then indeed this man acquired a field out of the reward of unrighteousness, and having fallen headlong, he burst open in the middle, and all his intestines poured out.
