1 And they brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had spread for it; and they presented burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before God. Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each Israelite man and woman.
4 And he appointed certain of the Levites to do the service before the ark of Jehovah, and to celebrate, and to thank and praise Jehovah the God of Israel: Then he appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the LORD, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel. 5 Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, with instruments of lutes and with harps; and Asaph sounding with cymbals; Asaph was the chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals, Asaph was the chief, and next to him in rank were Zechariah, then Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel. They were to play the lyres and harps, Asaph was to sound the cymbals,
6 and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God. and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God. and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 Then on that day David delivered first [this psalm] to give thanks to Jehovah through Asaph and his brethren. Then on that day David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the LORD by Asaph and his brothers. That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the LORD in this manner:
8 Give thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name; Make known his acts among the peoples. Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him; Meditate upon all his wondrous works. Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.
10 Glory in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek Jehovah. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
11 Seek Jehovah and his strength, Seek his face continually; Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
12 Remember his wondrous works which he hath done; His miracles, and the judgments of his mouth: Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered, Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
13 Ye seed of Israel his servant, Ye sons of Jacob, his chosen ones. O offspring of Israel his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones! you his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
14 He, Jehovah, is our God; His judgments are in all the earth. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
15 Be ye ever mindful of his covenant, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations, -- Remember his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations, He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
16 Which he made with Abraham, And of his oath unto Isaac; the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac, the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
17 And he confirmed it unto Jacob for a statute, Unto Israel for an everlasting covenant, which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance; saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan, as your portion for an inheritance.” “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit.”
19 When ye were a few men in number, Of small account, and strangers in it. When you were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it, When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it,
20 And they went from nation to nation, And from one kingdom to another people. wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
21 He suffered no man to oppress them, And reproved kings for their sakes, he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:
22 [Saying,] Touch not mine anointed ones, And do my prophets no harm. saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!” “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”
23 Sing unto Jehovah, all the earth; Publish his salvation from day to day. Sing to the LORD, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.
24 Declare his glory among the nations, His wondrous works among all peoples. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
25 For Jehovah is great, and exceedingly to be praised; And he is terrible above all gods. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols; But Jehovah made the heavens. For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
27 Majesty and splendour are before him; Strength and gladness in his place. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.
28 Give unto Jehovah, ye families of peoples, Give unto Jehovah glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
29 Give unto Jehovah the glory of his name! Bring an oblation, and come before him: Worship Jehovah in holy splendour. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
30 Tremble before him, all the earth: The world also is established, it shall not be moved. tremble before him, all the earth; yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.
31 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, Jehovah reigneth! Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!” Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!”
32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; Let the field exult, and all that is therein. Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!
33 Then shall the trees of the forest sing out at the presence of Jehovah, For he cometh to judge the earth. Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. Let the trees of the forest sing, let them sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.
34 Give thanks unto Jehovah, for he is good; For his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
35 And say, Save us, O God of our salvation, And gather us, and deliver us from the nations, To give thanks unto thy holy name, To triumph in thy praise. Say also: “Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather and deliver us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.”
36 Blessed be Jehovah the God of Israel, from eternity and to eternity! And all the people said, Amen! and praised Jehovah. Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!” Then all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the LORD. Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the LORD.”
37 And he left there, before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, Asaph and his brethren, to do the service before the ark continually, as every day's duty required; So David left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister regularly before the ark as each day required, David left Asaph and his associates before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister there regularly, according to each day’s requirements.
38 and Obed-Edom, and their brethren, sixty-eight; Obed-Edom also, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah as doorkeepers. and also Obed-edom and his sixty-eight brothers, while Obed-edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah were to be gatekeepers. He also left Obed-Edom and his sixty-eight associates to minister with them. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and also Hosah, were gatekeepers.
39 And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of Jehovah in the high place that was at Gibeon, And he left Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the LORD at the high place in Gibeon
40 to offer up burnt-offerings to Jehovah on the altar of burnt-offering continually, morning and evening, and according to all that is written in the law of Jehovah, which he commanded Israel; to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening, to do all that is written in the Law of the LORD that he commanded Israel. to present burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering regularly, morning and evening, in accordance with everything written in the Law of the LORD, which he had given Israel.
41 and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to Jehovah, because his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever; With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and expressly named to give thanks to the LORD, for his steadfast love endures forever. With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, “for his love endures forever.”
42 and with them, [with] Heman and Jeduthun, trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud; and the musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were at the gate. Heman and Jeduthun had trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were appointed to the gate. Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
43 And all the people departed every one to his house; and David returned to bless his household. Then all the people departed each to his house, and David went home to bless his household. Then all the people left, each for their own home, and David returned home to bless his family.
