1 So they brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent which David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. 7 Then on that day David first entrusted to Asaph and his relatives to give thanks to the LORD [as their chief task]. Then on that day David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the LORD by Asaph and his brothers. That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the LORD in this manner:
8 O give thanks to the LORD, call on His name; Make His deeds known among the peoples. Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
9 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders. Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.
10 Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually [longing to be in His presence]. Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
12 Remember [with gratitude] His marvelous deeds which He has done, His miracles and the judgments from His mouth, Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered, Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
13 O seed of Israel His servant, Children of Jacob, His chosen ones! O offspring of Israel his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones! you his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
14 He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
15 Be mindful of His covenant forever, The promise which He commanded and established to a thousand generations, Remember his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations, He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
16 The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath (sworn promise) to Isaac. the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac, the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
17 He confirmed it as a statute to Jacob, And to Israel as an everlasting covenant, which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
18 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan, As the portion of your possession and inheritance.” saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan, as your portion for an inheritance.” “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit.”
19 When you were few in number, Even a very few, and strangers in it, When you were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it, When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it,
20 When they wandered from nation to nation, And from one kingdom to another people, wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
21 He allowed no man to oppress or exploit them, And, He reproved and punished kings for their sakes, saying, he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:
22 “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!” “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”
23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Sing to the LORD, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.
24 Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all peoples. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared [with awe-filled reverence] above all gods. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the peoples are [lifeless] idols, But the LORD made the heavens. For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
27 Splendor and majesty are [found] in His presence; Strength and joy are [found] in His place (sanctuary). Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.
28 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, Ascribe to the LORD glory and honor and strength. Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
29 Ascribe to the LORD the glory and honor due His name; Bring an offering [of thanksgiving], and come before Him; Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! 30 Tremble [reverently] before Him, all the earth; The world is firmly established, it will not be moved. tremble before him, all the earth; yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.” Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!” Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!”
32 Let the sea roar, and all the things that fill it; Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it. Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!
33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD; For He comes to judge and govern the earth. Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. Let the trees of the forest sing, let them sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.
34 O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness endures forever. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
35 Then say, “Save us, O God of our salvation; Gather us together and rescue us from the nations, That we may give thanks to Your holy name, And glory in Your praise.” Say also: “Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather and deliver us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.”
36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, Forever and ever. And all the people said, “Amen,” and praised the LORD. Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!” Then all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the LORD. Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the LORD.”
37 So David left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister before the ark continually, as each day’s work required; So David left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister regularly before the ark as each day required, David left Asaph and his associates before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister there regularly, according to each day’s requirements.
38 and Obed-edom with his sixty-eight relatives; also Obed-edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, were to be gatekeepers. and also Obed-edom and his sixty-eight brothers, while Obed-edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah were to be gatekeepers. He also left Obed-Edom and his sixty-eight associates to minister with them. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and also Hosah, were gatekeepers.

41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen and designated by name, to give thanks to the LORD, for His lovingkindness endures forever. With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and expressly named to give thanks to the LORD, for his steadfast love endures forever. With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, “for his love endures forever.”
42 With them were Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those who were to sound aloud, and instruments for [accompanying] the songs of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were to be at the gate. Heman and Jeduthun had trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were appointed to the gate. Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
43 Then all the people departed, each to his house, and David returned [home] to bless his household. Then all the people departed each to his house, and David went home to bless his household. Then all the people left, each for their own home, and David returned home to bless his family.
