| 1There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. | 1Now there were some present on that occasion who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. |
| 2And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? | 2He answered them, "Do you think these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered these things? |
| 3I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. | 3No, I tell you! But unless you repent, you will all perish as well! |
| 4Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? | 4Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower in Siloam fell on them, do you think they were worse offenders than all the others who live in Jerusalem? |

Cut it down! Why should it continue to deplete the soil?' |
| 8But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. | 8But the worker answered him, 'Sir, leave it alone this year too, until I dig around it and put fertilizer on it. |
| 9And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.’ ” | 9Then if it bears fruit next year, very well, but if not, you can cut it down.'" |

| 14But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” | 14But the president of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, "There are six days on which work should be done! So come and be healed on those days, and not on the Sabbath day." |
| 15The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? | 15Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from its stall, and lead it to water? |
| 16So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” | 16Then shouldn't this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be released from this imprisonment on the Sabbath day?" |
| 17And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. | 17When he said this all his adversaries were humiliated, but the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things he was doing. |
| 18Then He said, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? | 18Thus Jesus asked, "What is the kingdom of God like? To what should I compare it? |
| 19It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.” | 19It is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden. | 20And again He said, “To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? | 20Again he said, "To what should I compare the kingdom of God? |

| 23Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” And He said to them, | 23Someone asked him, "Lord, will only a few be saved?" So he said to them, |
| 24“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. | 24"Exert every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. |
| 25When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ | 25Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, then you will stand outside and start to knock on the door and beg him, 'Lord, let us in!' But he will answer you, 'I don't know where you come from.' |
| 26then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ | 26Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.' |
| 27But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ | 27But he will reply, 'I don't know where you come from! Go away from me, all you evildoers!' |
| 28There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. | 28There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves thrown out. |

| 32And He said to them, “Go, tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’ | 32But he said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Look, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will complete my work. |
| 33Nevertheless I must journey today, tomorrow, and the day following; for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem. | 33Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible that a prophet should be killed outside Jerusalem.' |
| 34“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing! | 34O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it! |

Your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly, I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ ” | 35Look, your house is forsaken!
