NKJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of the sons of Korah. We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, The deeds You did in their days, In days of old:1For the choir director. A Maskil of the sons of Korah. O God, we have heard with our ears, Our fathers have told us The work that You did in their days, In the days of old.
You drove out the nations with Your hand, But them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out.2You with Your own hand drove out the nations; Then You planted them; You afflicted the peoples, Then You spread them abroad.
For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them.3For by their own sword they did not possess the land, And their own arm did not save them, But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence, For You favored them.
You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob.4You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob.
Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us.5Through You we will push back our adversaries; Through Your name we will trample down those who rise up against us.
For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me.6For I will not trust in my bow, Nor will my sword save me.
But You have saved us from our enemies, And have put to shame those who hated us.7But You have saved us from our adversaries, And You have put to shame those who hate us.
In God we boast all day long, And praise Your name forever. Selah8In God we have boasted all day long, And we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah.
But You have cast us off and put us to shame, And You do not go out with our armies.9Yet You have rejected us and brought us to dishonor, And do not go out with our armies.
You make us turn back from the enemy, And those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves.10You cause us to turn back from the adversary; And those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves.
You have given us up like sheep intended for food, And have scattered us among the nations.11You give us as sheep to be eaten And have scattered us among the nations.
You sell Your people for next to nothing, And are not enriched by selling them.12You sell Your people cheaply, And have not profited by their sale.
You make us a reproach to our neighbors, A scorn and a derision to those all around us.13You make us a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and a derision to those around us.
You make us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.14You make us a byword among the nations, A laughingstock among the peoples.
My dishonor is continually before me, And the shame of my face has covered me,15All day long my dishonor is before me And my humiliation has overwhelmed me,
Because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles, Because of the enemy and the avenger.16Because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles, Because of the presence of the enemy and the avenger.
All this has come upon us; But we have not forgotten You, Nor have we dealt falsely with Your covenant.17All this has come upon us, but we have not forgotten You, And we have not dealt falsely with Your covenant.
Our heart has not turned back, Nor have our steps departed from Your way;18Our heart has not turned back, And our steps have not deviated from Your way,
But You have severely broken us in the place of jackals, And covered us with the shadow of death.19Yet You have crushed us in a place of jackals And covered us with the shadow of death.
If we had forgotten the name of our God, Or stretched out our hands to a foreign god,20If we had forgotten the name of our God Or extended our hands to a strange god,
Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.21Would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.
Yet for Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.22But for Your sake we are killed all day long; We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arise! Do not cast us off forever.23Arouse Yourself, why do You sleep, O Lord? Awake, do not reject us forever.
Why do You hide Your face, And forget our affliction and our oppression?24Why do You hide Your face And forget our affliction and our oppression?
For our soul is bowed down to the dust; Our body clings to the ground.25For our soul has sunk down into the dust; Our body cleaves to the earth.
Arise for our help, And redeem us for Your mercies’ sake.26Rise up, be our help, And redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness.
