Psalm 102
NASB Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995Christian Standard Bible
A Prayer of the Afflicted when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the LORD. Hear my prayer, O LORD! And let my cry for help come to You.1LORD, hear my prayer; let my cry for help come before you.
Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress; Incline Your ear to me; In the day when I call answer me quickly.2Do not hide your face from me in my day of trouble. Listen closely to me; answer me quickly when I call.
For my days have been consumed in smoke, And my bones have been scorched like a hearth.3For my days vanish like smoke, and my bones burn like a furnace.
My heart has been smitten like grass and has withered away, Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.4My heart is suffering, withered like grass; I even forget to eat my food.
Because of the loudness of my groaning My bones cling to my flesh.5Because of the sound of my groaning, my flesh sticks to my bones.
I resemble a pelican of the wilderness; I have become like an owl of the waste places.6I am like an eagle owl, like a little owl among the ruins.
I lie awake, I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop.7I stay awake; I am like a solitary bird on a roof.
My enemies have reproached me all day long; Those who deride me have used my name as a curse.8My enemies taunt me all day long; they ridicule and use my name as a curse.
For I have eaten ashes like bread And mingled my drink with weeping9I eat ashes like bread and mingle my drinks with tears
Because of Your indignation and Your wrath, For You have lifted me up and cast me away.10because of your indignation and wrath; for you have picked me up and thrown me aside.
My days are like a lengthened shadow, And I wither away like grass.11My days are like a lengthening shadow, and I wither away like grass.
But You, O LORD, abide forever, And Your name to all generations.12But you, LORD, are enthroned forever; your fame endures to all generations.
You will arise and have compassion on Zion; For it is time to be gracious to her, For the appointed time has come.13You will rise up and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her--the appointed time has come.
Surely Your servants find pleasure in her stones And feel pity for her dust.14For your servants take delight in its stones and favor its dust.
So the nations will fear the name of the LORD And all the kings of the earth Your glory.15Then the nations will fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth your glory,
For the LORD has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory.16for the LORD will rebuild Zion; he will appear in his glory.
He has regarded the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer.17He will pay attention to the prayer of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.
This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.18This will be written for a later generation, and a people who have not yet been created will praise the LORD:
For He looked down from His holy height; From heaven the LORD gazed upon the earth,19He looked down from his holy heights--the LORD gazed out from heaven to earth--
To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To set free those who were doomed to death,20to hear a prisoner's groaning, to set free those condemned to die,
That men may tell of the name of the LORD in Zion And His praise in Jerusalem,21so that they might declare the name of the LORD in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem,
When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.22when peoples and kingdoms are assembled to serve the LORD.
He has weakened my strength in the way; He has shortened my days.23He has broken my strength in midcourse; he has shortened my days.
I say, "O my God, do not take me away in the midst of my days, Your years are throughout all generations.24I say: "My God, do not take me in the middle of my life! Your years continue through all generations.
"Of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.25Long ago you established the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
"Even they will perish, but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.26They will perish, but you will endure; all of them will wear out like clothing. You will change them like a garment, and they will pass away.
"But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.27But you are the same, and your years will never end.
"The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You."28Your servants' children will dwell securely, and their offspring will be established before you."
