They brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent David had pitched for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings in God's presence.1They brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God.
When David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.2After David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
Then he distributed to each and every Israelite, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.3Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each Israelite man and woman.
David appointed some of the Levites to be ministers before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate the LORD God of Israel, and to give thanks and praise to him.4He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to extol, thank, and praise the LORD, the God of Israel:
Asaph was the chief and Zechariah was second to him. Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel played the harps and lyres, while Asaph sounded the cymbals5Asaph was the chief, and next to him in rank were Zechariah, then Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel. They were to play the lyres and harps, Asaph was to sound the cymbals,
and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel blew the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.6and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.
On that day David decreed for the first time that thanks be given to the LORD by Asaph and his relatives:7That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the LORD in this manner:
Give thanks to the LORD; call on his name; proclaim his deeds among the peoples.8Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him; sing praise to him; tell about all his wondrous works!9Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.
Honor his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.10Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.11Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
Remember the wondrous works he has done, his wonders, and the judgments he has pronounced,12Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
you offspring of Israel his servant, Jacob's descendants--his chosen ones.13you his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
He is the LORD our God; his judgments govern the whole earth.14He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
Remember his covenant forever--the promise he ordained for a thousand generations,15He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
the covenant he made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,16the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
and confirmed to Jacob as a decree, and to Israel as a permanent covenant:17He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
"I will give the land of Canaan to you as your inherited portion."18"To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit."
When they were few in number, very few indeed, and resident aliens in Canaan19When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it,
wandering from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another,20they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their behalf:21He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:
"Do not touch my anointed ones or harm my prophets."22"Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm."
Let the whole earth sing to the LORD. Proclaim his salvation from day to day.23Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among all peoples.24Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
For the LORD is great and highly praised; he is feared above all gods.25For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.26For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place.27Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.
Ascribe to the LORD, families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.28Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness;29Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
let the whole earth tremble before him. The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken.30Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.
Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"31Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"
Let the sea and all that fills it resound; let the fields and everything in them exult.32Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!
Then the trees of the forest will shout for joy before the LORD, for he is coming to judge the earth.33Let the trees of the forest sing, let them sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.34Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
And say: "Save us, God of our salvation; gather us and rescue us from the nations so that we may give thanks to your holy name and rejoice in your praise.35Cry out, "Save us, God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise."
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting." Then all the people said, "Amen" and "Praise the LORD."36Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said "Amen" and "Praise the LORD."
So David left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the LORD's covenant to minister regularly before the ark according to the daily requirements.37David left Asaph and his associates before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister there regularly, according to each day's requirements.

With them were Heman, Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD--for his faithful love endures forever.41With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, "for his love endures forever."
Heman and Jeduthun had with them trumpets and cymbals to play and musical instruments of God. Jeduthun's sons were at the city gate.42Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
Then all the people went home, and David returned home to bless his household.43Then all the people left, each for their own home, and David returned home to bless his family.
