Admiration by the Bridegroom 1 מַה־ (How) יָּפ֧וּ (beautiful are) פְעָמַ֛יִךְ (your feet) בַּנְּעָלִ֖ים (in the sandals), בַּת־ (O daughter) נָדִ֑יב (of a noble)! חַמּוּקֵ֣י (The curves) יְרֵכַ֔יִךְ (of your thighs) כְּמ֣וֹ (are like) חֲלָאִ֔ים (jewels), מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה (the work) יְדֵ֥י (of the hands) אָמָּֽן׃ (of an artisan). 2 שָׁרְרֵךְ֙ (Your navel is) אַגַּ֣ן (a bowl) הַסַּ֔הַר (of roundness); אַל־ (not) יֶחְסַ֖ר (is it lacking) הַמָּ֑זֶג (in mixed wine). בִּטְנֵךְ֙ (Your belly is) עֲרֵמַ֣ת (a mound) חִטִּ֔ים (of wheat) סוּגָ֖ה (fenced around) בַּשּׁוֹשַׁנִּֽים׃ (with the lilies). 3 שְׁנֵ֥י (The two) שָׁדַ֛יִךְ (of your breasts are) כִּשְׁנֵ֥י (like two) עֳפָרִ֖ים (fawns), תָּאֳמֵ֥י (twins) צְבִיָּֽה׃ (of a gazelle). 4 צַוָּארֵ֖ךְ (Your neck is) כְּמִגְדַּ֣ל (like a tower) הַשֵּׁ֑ן (of ivory), עֵינַ֜יִךְ (Your eyes are) בְּרֵכ֣וֹת (the pools) בְּחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן (in Heshbon) עַל־ (by) שַׁ֙עַר֙ (the gate) בַּת־ (of Bath-) רַבִּ֔ים (Rabbim). אַפֵּךְ֙ (Your nose is) כְּמִגְדַּ֣ל (like the tower) הַלְּבָנ֔וֹן (of Lebanon) צוֹפֶ֖ה (looking to) פְּנֵ֥י (the face) דַמָּֽשֶׂק׃ (of Damascus). 5 רֹאשֵׁ֤ךְ (Your head) עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ (is upon you) כַּכַּרְמֶ֔ל (like Carmel), וְדַלַּ֥ת (and the hair) רֹאשֵׁ֖ךְ (of your head) כָּאַרְגָּמָ֑ן (is like purple); מֶ֖לֶךְ (a king) אָס֥וּר (is bound) בָּרְהָטִֽים׃ (in the tresses). 6 מַה־ (How) יָּפִית֙ (beautiful) וּמַה־ (and how) נָּעַ֔מְתְּ (pleasant), אַהֲבָ֖ה (O my love), בַּתַּֽעֲנוּגִֽים׃ (in your delights)! 7 זֹ֤את (This) קֽוֹמָתֵךְ֙ (stature of yours) דָּֽמְתָ֣ה (is like) לְתָמָ֔ר (a palm tree), וְשָׁדַ֖יִךְ (and your breasts) לְאַשְׁכֹּלֽוֹת׃ (are like clusters of fruit). 8 אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ (I said), אֶעֱלֶ֣ה (I will go up) בְתָמָ֔ר (on the palm tree), אֹֽחֲזָ֖ה (I will grab hold) בְּסַנְסִנָּ֑יו (of its boughs). וְיִֽהְיוּ־ (And let be) נָ֤א (now) שָׁדַ֙יִךְ֙ (your breasts) כְּאֶשְׁכְּל֣וֹת (like the clusters) הַגֶּ֔פֶן (of the vine), וְרֵ֥יחַ (and the fragrance) אַפֵּ֖ךְ (of your breath) כַּתַּפּוּחִֽים׃ (like the apples), 9 וְחִכֵּ֕ךְ (and your mouth) כְּיֵ֥ין (like wine) הַטּ֛וֹב (of the best). The Bride הוֹלֵ֥ךְ (It is flowing) לְדוֹדִ֖י (to my beloved) לְמֵישָׁרִ֑ים (smoothly), דּוֹבֵ֖ב (gliding over) שִׂפְתֵ֥י (lips) יְשֵׁנִֽים׃ (as we sleep). 10 אֲנִ֣י (I am) לְדוֹדִ֔י (unto my beloved), וְעָלַ֖י (and for me) תְּשׁוּקָתֽוֹ׃ס (is his desire). 11 לְכָ֤ה (Come), דוֹדִי֙ (my beloved), נֵצֵ֣א (let us go forth) הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה (to the field); נָלִ֖ינָה (let us spend the night) בַּכְּפָרִֽים׃ (among the wildflowers). 12 נַשְׁכִּ֙ימָה֙ (Let us go out early) לַכְּרָמִ֔ים (to the vineyards); נִרְאֶ֞ה (let us see) אִם (if) פָּֽרְחָ֤ה (has sprouted) הַגֶּ֙פֶן֙ (the vine), פִּתַּ֣ח (if have opened) הַסְּמָדַ֔ר (the blossoms) הֵנֵ֖צוּ (and have budded) הָרִמּוֹנִ֑ים (the pomegranates); שָׁ֛ם (there) אֶתֵּ֥ן (I will give) אֶת־ (-) דֹּדַ֖י (my love) לָֽךְ׃ (to you). 13 הַֽדּוּדָאִ֣ים (The mandrakes) נָֽתְנוּ־ (give off) רֵ֗יחַ (a scent), וְעַל־ (and at) פְּתָחֵ֙ינוּ֙ (our door) כָּל־ (is every) מְגָדִ֔ים (delicacy), חֲדָשִׁ֖ים (new) גַּם־ (and) יְשָׁנִ֑ים (old), דּוֹדִ֖י (my beloved), צָפַ֥נְתִּי (which I have stored up) לָֽךְ׃ (for you).
