Authority of Christ

In John 1:1-3 , it is written, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made." This passage affirms Christ's preexistence and His active role in creation, establishing His authority over all things.

In Matthew 7:28-29 , it is noted, "When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at His teaching, because He taught as one who had authority, and not as their scribes." He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him."

In Mark 2:10-11 , Jesus declares, "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins," and then He heals a paralytic, demonstrating His divine prerogative to forgive.

In John 10:17-18 , Jesus states, "The reason the Father loves Me is that I lay down My life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. Presence of Christ

The presence of Christ is a profound assurance for believers, signifying His continual involvement and intimacy with His followers.

1. Immanuel, God with Us: The prophecy of Isaiah 7:14, fulfilled in Matthew 1:23 , declares, "Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel" (which means, "God with us"). This name encapsulates the reality of Christ's presence among His people, both during His earthly ministry and in His ongoing spiritual presence.

2. Promise of His Presence: Jesus promised His enduring presence to His disciples. In Matthew 28:20 , He assures them, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." This promise extends to all believers, affirming that Christ is with His Church through the Holy Spirit.

3. Presence in the Church: Christ's presence is particularly manifest in the Church, His body. In Ephesians 1:22-23 , Paul writes, "And God put everything under His feet and made Him head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all." This indicates that Christ is actively present and working within the community of believers.

4. Indwelling Presence: The indwelling presence of Christ is a personal reality for each believer. In Galatians 2:20 , Paul testifies, "I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." In 2 Corinthians 12:9 , the Lord tells Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness."
