שִׁגָּי֗וֹן לְדָ֫וִ֥ד אֲשֶׁר־ שָׁ֥ר לַיהוָ֑ה עַל־ דִּבְרֵי־ כ֝֗וּשׁ בֶּן־ יְמִינִֽי׃ יְהוָ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהַי בְּךָ֣ חָסִ֑יתִי הוֹשִׁיעֵ֥נִי מִכָּל־ רֹ֝דְפַ֗י וְהַצִּילֵֽנִי׃ | O LORD my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me, | A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite. LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, |
פֶּן־ יִטְרֹ֣ף כְּאַרְיֵ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֑י פֹּ֝רֵ֗ק וְאֵ֣ין מַצִּֽיל׃ | lest like a lion they tear my soul apart, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver. | or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. |
יְהוָ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהַי אִם־ עָשִׂ֣יתִי זֹ֑את אִֽם־ יֶשׁ־ עָ֥וֶל בְּכַפָּֽי׃ | O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, | LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands— |
אִם־ גָּ֭מַלְתִּי שֽׁוֹלְמִ֥י רָ֑ע וָאֲחַלְּצָ֖ה צוֹרְרִ֣י רֵיקָֽם׃ | if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause, | if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe— |
יִֽרַדֹּ֥ף אוֹיֵ֨ב ׀ נַפְשִׁ֡י וְיַשֵּׂ֗ג וְיִרְמֹ֣ס לָאָ֣רֶץ חַיָּ֑י וּכְבוֹדִ֓י ׀ לֶעָפָ֖ר יַשְׁכֵּ֣ן סֶֽלָה׃ | let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and let him trample my life to the ground and lay my glory in the dust. Selah | then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. |
ק֘וּמָ֤ה יְהוָ֨ה ׀ בְּאַפֶּ֗ךָ הִ֭נָּשֵׂא בְּעַבְר֣וֹת צוֹרְרָ֑י וְע֥וּרָה אֵ֝לַ֗י מִשְׁפָּ֥ט צִוִּֽיתָ׃ | Arise, O LORD, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies; awake for me; you have appointed a judgment. | Arise, LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. |
וַעֲדַ֣ת לְ֭אֻמִּים תְּסוֹבְבֶ֑ךָּ וְ֝עָלֶ֗יהָ לַמָּר֥וֹם שֽׁוּבָה׃ | Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you; over it return on high. | Let the assembled peoples gather around you, while you sit enthroned over them on high. |
יְהוָה֮ יָדִ֪ין עַ֫מִּ֥ים שָׁפְטֵ֥נִי יְהוָ֑ה כְּצִדְקִ֖י וּכְתֻמִּ֣י עָלָֽי׃ | The LORD judges the peoples; judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me. | Let the LORD judge the peoples. Vindicate me, LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. |
יִגְמָר־ נָ֬א רַ֨ע ׀ רְשָׁעִים֮ וּתְכוֹנֵ֪ן צַ֫דִּ֥יק וּבֹחֵ֣ן לִ֭בּ֗וֹת וּכְלָי֗וֹת אֱלֹהִ֥ים צַדִּֽיק׃ | Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end, and may you establish the righteous— you who test the minds and hearts, O righteous God! | Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure— you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts. |
מָֽגִנִּ֥י עַל־ אֱלֹהִ֑ים מ֝וֹשִׁ֗יעַ יִשְׁרֵי־ לֵֽב׃ | My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. | My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. |
אֱ֭לֹהִים שׁוֹפֵ֣ט צַדִּ֑יק וְ֝אֵ֗ל זֹעֵ֥ם בְּכָל־ יֽוֹם׃ | God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day. | God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day. |
אִם־ לֹ֣א יָ֭שׁוּב חַרְבּ֣וֹ יִלְט֑וֹשׁ קַשְׁתּ֥וֹ דָ֝רַ֗ךְ וַֽיְכוֹנְנֶֽהָ׃ | If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow; | If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. |
וְ֭לוֹ הֵכִ֣ין כְּלֵי־ מָ֑וֶת חִ֝צָּ֗יו לְֽדֹלְקִ֥ים יִפְעָֽל׃ | he has prepared for him his deadly weapons, making his arrows fiery shafts. | He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows. |
הִנֵּ֥ה יְחַבֶּל־ אָ֑וֶן וְהָרָ֥ה עָ֝מָ֗ל וְיָ֣לַד שָֽׁקֶר׃ | Behold, the wicked man conceives evil and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies. | Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment. |
בּ֣וֹר כָּ֭רָֽה וַֽיַּחְפְּרֵ֑הוּ וַ֝יִּפֹּ֗ל בְּשַׁ֣חַת יִפְעָֽל׃ | He makes a pit, digging it out, and falls into the hole that he has made. | Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit they have made. |
יָשׁ֣וּב עֲמָל֣וֹ בְרֹאשׁ֑וֹ וְעַ֥ל קָ֝דְקֳד֗וֹ חֲמָס֥וֹ יֵרֵֽד׃ | His mischief returns upon his own head, and on his own skull his violence descends. | The trouble they cause recoils on them; their violence comes down on their own heads. |
אוֹדֶ֣ה יְהוָ֣ה כְּצִדְק֑וֹ וַ֝אֲזַמְּרָ֗ה שֵֽׁם־ יְהוָ֥ה עֶלְיֽוֹן׃ | I will give to the LORD the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High. | I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High. |
