1 And having called His twelve disciples to Himself, He gave to them power over unclean spirits, so as to be casting them out, and to be healing every disease and every sickness. 9 Do not provide gold, nor silver, nor brass in your girdles, Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, “Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts—
10 nor leather pouch for the way, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor staff—for the workman is worthy of his nourishment. no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep.
11 And into whatever city or village you may enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and abide there, until you may go forth. And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave.
12 And coming into the house greet it, As you enter the house, greet it. As you enter the home, give it your greeting.
13 and if indeed the house is worthy, let your peace come on it; and if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you.
14 And whoever may not receive you nor hear your words, coming forth from that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet, And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.
15 truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city. Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.
16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, therefore be wise as the serpents, and pure as the doves. “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
17 And take heed of men, for they will give you up to Sanhedrins, and in their synagogues they will scourge you, Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues.
18 and before governors and kings you will be brought for My sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations. and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.
19 And whenever they may deliver you up, do not be anxious how or what you may speak, for it will be given you in that hour what you will speak; When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,
20 for you are not the speakers, but the Spirit of your Father that is speaking in you. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21 And brother will deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children will rise up against parents, and will put them to death, Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
22 and you will be hated by all because of My Name, but he who has endured to the end, he will be saved. and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
23 And whenever they may persecute you in this city, flee to the other, for truly I say to you, you may not have finished [going through] the cities of Israel until the Son of Man may come. When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
24 A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his lord; “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. “The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master.
25 sufficient to the disciple that he may be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord; if the master of the house they called Beelzebul, how much more those of his household? It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household. It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!
26 You may not, therefore, fear them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hid that will not be known; “So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. “So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
27 that which I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and that which you hear at the ear, proclaim on the housetops. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.
28 And do not be afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for an assarion? And one of them will not fall on the ground without your Father; Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.
30 and of you—even the hairs of the head are all numbered; But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 therefore, do not be afraid, you are better than many sparrows. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
32 Everyone, therefore, who will confess in Me before men, I also will confess in him before My Father who is in the heavens; So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.
33 and whoever will deny Me before men, I also will deny him before My Father who is in the heavens. but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.
34 You may not suppose that I came to put peace on the earth; I did not come to put peace, but a sword; “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
35 for I came to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. For I have come to turn “’a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
36 and the enemies of a man are those of his household. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
37 He who is cherishing father or mother above Me, is not worthy of Me, and he who is cherishing son or daughter above Me, is not worthy of Me, Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 and whoever does not receive his cross and follow after Me, is not worthy of Me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
39 He who found his life will lose it, and he who lost his life for My sake will find it. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
40 He who is receiving you receives Me, and he who is receiving Me receives Him who sent Me; “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.
41 he who is receiving a prophet in the name of a prophet, will receive a prophet’s reward, and he who is receiving a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, will receive a righteous man’s reward, The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.
42 and whoever may give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he may not lose his reward.” And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”
