1 And having looked up, he saw those who did cast their gifts to the treasury -- rich men, Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury.
2 and he saw also a certain poor widow casting there two mites, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.
3 and he said, 'Truly I say to you, that this poor widow did cast in more than all; And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others.
4 for all these out of their superabundance did cast into the gifts to God, but this one out of her want, all the living that she had, did cast in.' For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
5 And certain saying about the temple, that with goodly stones and devoted things it hath been adorned, he said, And while some were speaking of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said, Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said,
6 'These things that ye behold -- days will come, in which there shall not be left a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down.' “As for these things that you see, the days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.”
7 And they questioned him, saying, 'Teacher, when, then, shall these things be? and what is the sign when these things may be about to happen?' And they asked him, “Teacher, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?” “Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
8 And he said, 'See -- ye may not be led astray, for many shall come in my name, saying -- I am he, and the time hath come nigh; go not on then after them; And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them. He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.
9 and when ye may hear of wars and uprisings, be not terrified, for it behoveth these things to happen first, but the end is not immediately.' And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once.” When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”
10 Then said he to them, 'Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11 great shakings also in every place, and famines, and pestilences, there shall be; fearful things also, and great signs from heaven there shall be; There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
12 and before all these, they shall lay on you their hands, and persecute, delivering up to synagogues and prisons, being brought before kings and governors for my name's sake; But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. “But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name.
13 and it shall become to you for a testimony. This will be your opportunity to bear witness. And so you will bear testimony to me.
14 'Settle, then, to your hearts, not to meditate beforehand to reply, Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer, But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves.
15 for I will give to you a mouth and wisdom that all your opposers shall not be able to refute or resist. for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.
16 'And ye shall be delivered up also by parents, and brothers, and kindred, and friends, and they shall put of you to death; You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.
17 and ye shall be hated by all because of my name -- You will be hated by all for my name’s sake. Everyone will hate you because of me.
18 and a hair out of your head shall not perish; But not a hair of your head will perish. But not a hair of your head will perish.
19 in your patience possess ye your souls. By your endurance you will gain your lives. Stand firm, and you will win life.
20 'And when ye may see Jerusalem surrounded by encampments, then know that come nigh did her desolation; “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.
21 then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains; and those in her midst, let them depart out; and those in the countries, let them not come in to her; Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.
22 because these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all things that have been written. for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written.
23 'And woe to those with child, and to those giving suck, in those days; for there shall be great distress on the land, and wrath on this people; Alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress upon the earth and wrath against this people. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.
24 and they shall fall by the mouth of the sword, and shall be led captive to all the nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by nations, till the times of nations be fulfilled. They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25 And there shall be signs in sun, and moon, and stars, and on the land is distress of nations with perplexity, sea and billow roaring; “And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
26 men fainting at heart from fear, and expectation of the things coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
27 'And then they shall see the Son of Man, coming in a cloud, with power and much glory; And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 and these things beginning to happen bend yourselves back, and lift up your heads, because your redemption doth draw nigh.' Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
29 And he spake a simile to them: 'See the fig-tree, and all the trees, And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees.
30 when they may now cast forth, having seen, of yourselves ye know that now is the summer nigh; As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.
31 so also ye, when ye may see these things happening, ye know that near is the reign of God; So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
32 verily I say to you -- This generation may not pass away till all may have come to pass; Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. “Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
33 the heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words may not pass away. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
34 'And take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts may be weighed down with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and anxieties of life, and suddenly that day may come on you, “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.
35 for as a snare it shall come on all those dwelling on the face of all the land, For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth.
36 watch ye, then, in every season, praying that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.' But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
37 And he was during the days in the temple teaching, and during the nights, going forth, he was lodging at the mount called of Olives; And every day he was teaching in the temple, but at night he went out and lodged on the mount called Olivet. Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives,
38 and all the people were coming early unto him in the temple to hear him. And early in the morning all the people came to him in the temple to hear him. and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.
