1	JESUS then looked at the rich men who were casting their offerings into the trea sury.	Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box,	As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury.
2	And he also saw a poor widow, who cast in two pennies.	and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.	He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.
3	And he said, Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has cast in more than every man.	And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them.	“Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others.
4	For all these cast into the house of the offerings of God of their abundance; but she of her poverty cast in everything she had earned.	For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”	All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
5	While some men were talking about the temple, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and gift offerings, Jesus said to them,	And while some were speaking of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said,	Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said,
6	These things which you see, the days will come when not a stone will be left upon a stone, which will not be torn down.	“As for these things that you see, the days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”	“As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.”
7	And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when will these things happen? and what is the sign when these things are about to happen?	And they asked him, “Teacher, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?”	“Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
8	He said to them, Be careful that you may not be deceived; for many will come in my name, and say, I am the Christ; and the time is near; but do not follow them.	And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them.	He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.
9	And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be afraid; for all these things must first come to pass; but the end is not vet.	And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once.”	When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”
10	For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11	And there will be great earthquakes in different places, and famines and plagues; and there will be alarming sights, and great signs will appear from heaven; and the winters will be severe.	There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.	There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
12	But before all these things, they will lay hands on you, and persecute you, and deliver you to the synagogues and the prisons; and they will bring you before kings and governors for the sake of my name.	But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake.	“But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name.
13	It will be to you for a testimony.	This will be your opportunity to bear witness.	And so you will bear testimony to me.
14	Treasure it in your heart, and do not try to learn what to answer.	Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer,	But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves.
15	For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your enemies will not be able to withstand.	for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.	For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.
16	You will be delivered up even by your parents and brothers, and your relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.	You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death.	You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.
17	And you will be hated by every man because of my name.	You will be hated by all for my name’s sake.	Everyone will hate you because of me.
18	And yet not a hair of your head will be lost.	But not a hair of your head will perish.	But not a hair of your head will perish.
19	By your patience you will gain your souls.	By your endurance you will gain your lives.	Stand firm, and you will win life.
20	But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by an army, then know that its destruction is at hand.	“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near.	“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.
21	Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountain; and let those who are within it flee; and let those who are in the fields not enter into it.	Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it,	Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.
22	For these are the days of vengeance, so that everything which is written must be fulfilled.	for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written.	For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written.
23	But woe to those who are with child, and to those who give suck in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.	Alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress upon the earth and wrath against this people.	How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.
24	And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and they will be taken captive to every country; and Jerusalem will be trodden under the feet of the Gentiles, until the time of the Gentiles comes to an end.	They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.	They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25	And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars; and on earth distress of the nations, and confusion because of the roaring of the sea;	“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves,	“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
26	And upheaval that takes life out of men, because of fear of what is to come on earth; and the powers of the universe will be shaken.	people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.	People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
27	Then they will see the Son of man coming in the clouds, with a large army and great glory.	And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28	But when these things begin to happen, have courage, and lift up your heads; because your salvation is at hand.	Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”	When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
29	And he said to them a parable, Look at the fig tree and all the trees;	And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.	He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees.
30	When they put forth leaves, you immediately understand by them that the summer is near.	As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near.	When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.
31	Even so you also, when you see these things happen, know that the kingdom of God is near.	So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.	Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
32	Truly I say to you, This generation will not pass away until all these things happen.	Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place.	“Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
33	Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass away.	Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.	Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
34	But take heed to yourselves, that your hearts may not become heavy by extravagance, and drunkenness, and worries of this world, and that day come suddenly upon you.	“But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.	“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.
35	For like a downpour it will entrap all those who dwell on the face of all the earth.	For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.	For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth.
36	Therefore keep watch all the time and pray, so that you may be worthy to escape all these things which are to happen, and that you may stand before the Son of man.	But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”	Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
37	During the day he taught in the temple; and at night he went out, and lodged in the mountain, which is called the Home of Olives.	And every day he was teaching in the temple, but at night he went out and lodged on the mount called Olivet.	Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives,
38	And all the people came ahead of him to the temple, to hear him.	And early in the morning all the people came to him in the temple to hear him.	and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.
