1 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom he had raised from the dead. 9 Now a large crowd of Judeans learned that Jesus was there, and so they came not only because of him but also to see Lazarus whom he had raised from the dead. 25 The one who loves his life destroys it, and the one who hates his life in this world guards it for eternal life. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
26 If anyone wants to serve me, he must follow me, and where I am, my servant will be too. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
27 |Now my soul is greatly distressed. And what should I say? 'Father, deliver me from this hour'? No, but for this very reason I have come to this hour. “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? 35 Jesus replied, |The light is with you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going.
36 While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become sons of light.| When Jesus had said these things, he went away and hid himself from them. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them. 38 so that the word of Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled. 39 For this reason they could not believe, because again Isaiah said, Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said, For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:

But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;
43 For they loved praise from men more than praise from God. for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God. for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
44 But Jesus shouted out, |The one who believes in me does not believe in me, but in the one who sent me, And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.
45 and the one who sees me sees the one who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.
46 I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in darkness. I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
47 If anyone hears my words and does not obey them, I do not judge him. For I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world. If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 The one who rejects me and does not accept my words has a judge; the word I have spoken will judge him at the last day. The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.
49 For I have not spoken from my own authority, but the Father himself who sent me has commanded me what I should say and what I should speak. For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak. For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken.
50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. Thus the things I say, I say just as the Father has told me.| And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.” I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”
