As I listened, he said to the others, "Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. | 5And to the others he said in my hearing, “Pass through the city after him, and strike. Your eye shall not spare, and you shall show no pity. | 5But to the others He said in my hearing, "Go through the city after him and strike; do not let your eye have pity and do not spare. | 5And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: | 5He spoke as I listened to the others, "Pass through the city after him and start killing; do not show pity or spare them! |
Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary." So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple. | 6Kill old men outright, young men and maidens, little children and women, but touch no one on whom is the mark. And begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the house. | 6"Utterly slay old men, young men, maidens, little children, and women, but do not touch any man on whom is the mark; and you shall start from My sanctuary." So they started with the elders who were before the temple. | 6Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house. | 6Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, as well as the older women and little children, but do not come near anyone who has the mark. Now begin at My sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple. |

Go out.” So they went out and struck in the city. | 7And He said to them, "Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!" Thus they went out and struck down the people in the city. | 7And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city. | 7Then He said to them, "Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go!" So they went out killing people in the city. |
While they were killing and I was left alone, I fell facedown, crying out, "Alas, Sovereign LORD! Are you going to destroy the entire remnant of Israel in this outpouring of your wrath on Jerusalem?" | 8And while they were striking, and I was left alone, I fell upon my face, and cried, “Ah, Lord GOD! Will you destroy all the remnant of Israel in the outpouring of your wrath on Jerusalem?” | 8As they were striking the people and I alone was left, I fell on my face and cried out saying, "Alas, Lord GOD! Are You destroying the whole remnant of Israel by pouring out Your wrath on Jerusalem?" | 8And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem? | 8While they were killing, I was left alone. And I fell facedown and cried out, "Oh, Lord GOD! Are You going to destroy the entire remnant of Israel when You pour out Your wrath on Jerusalem?" |
He answered me, "The sin of the people of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great; the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of injustice. They say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land; the LORD does not see.' | 9Then he said to me, “The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great. The land is full of blood, and the city full of injustice. For they say, ‘The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see.’ | 9Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is very, very great, and the land is filled with blood and the city is full of perversion; for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see!' | 9Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not. | 9He answered me: "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is extremely great; the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity. For they say, 'The LORD has abandoned the land; He does not see.' |
So I will not look on them with pity or spare them, but I will bring down on their own heads what they have done." | 10As for me, my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity; I will bring their deeds upon their heads.” | 10"But as for Me, My eye will have no pity nor will I spare, but I will bring their conduct upon their heads." | 10And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head. | 10But as for Me, I will not show pity or spare them. I will bring their actions down on their own heads." |
Then the man in linen with the writing kit at his side brought back word, saying, "I have done as you commanded." | 11And behold, the man clothed in linen, with the writing case at his waist, brought back word, saying, “I have done as you commanded me.” | 11Then behold, the man clothed in linen at whose loins was the writing case reported, saying, "I have done just as You have commanded me." | 11And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me. | 11Then the man clothed in linen with the writing equipment at his side reported back, "I have done as You commanded me." |
