New Living TranslationNET Bible
O LORD, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced.1In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated!
Save me and rescue me, for you do what is right. Turn your ear to listen to me, and set me free.2Vindicate me by rescuing me! Listen to me! Deliver me!
Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.3Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe! For you are my high ridge and my stronghold.
My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of cruel oppressors.4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor!
O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O LORD, from childhood.5For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young.
Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you!6I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually.
My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection.7Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter.
That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.8I praise you constantly and speak of your splendor all day long.
And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing.9Do not reject me in my old age! When my strength fails, do not abandon me!
For my enemies are whispering against me. They are plotting together to kill me.10For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise.
They say, “God has abandoned him. Let’s go and get him, for no one will help him now.”11They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!"
O God, don’t stay away. My God, please hurry to help me.12O God, do not remain far away from me! My God, hurry and help me!
Bring disgrace and destruction on my accusers. Humiliate and shame those who want to harm me.13May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace!
But I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more.14As for me, I will wait continually, and will continue to praise you.
I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words.15I will tell about your justice, and all day long proclaim your salvation, though I cannot fathom its full extent.
I will praise your mighty deeds, O Sovereign LORD. I will tell everyone that you alone are just.16I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign LORD. I will proclaim your justice--yours alone.
O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do.17O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds.
Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.18Even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power.
Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens. You have done such wonderful things. Who can compare with you, O God?19Your justice, O God, extends to the skies above; you have done great things. O God, who can compare to you?
You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.20Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth!
You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.21Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me!
Then I will praise you with music on the harp, because you are faithful to your promises, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel.22I will express my thanks to you with a stringed instrument, praising your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing praises to you accompanied by a harp, O Holy One of Israel!
I will shout for joy and sing your praises, for you have ransomed me.23My lips will shout for joy! Yes, I will sing your praises! I will praise you when you rescue me!
I will tell about your righteous deeds all day long, for everyone who tried to hurt me has been shamed and humiliated.24All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me will be embarrassed and ashamed.
