New Living Translation | Berean Study Bible |
O LORD, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. | 1In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. |
Save me and rescue me, for you do what is right. Turn your ear to listen to me, and set me free. | 2In Your justice, rescue and deliver me; incline Your ear and save me. |
Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. | 3Be my rock of refuge, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. |
My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of cruel oppressors. | 4Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and ruthless. |
O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O LORD, from childhood. | 5For You are my hope, O Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth. |
Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you! | 6I have leaned on You since birth; You pulled me from my mother’s womb. My praise is always for You. |
My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection. | 7I have become a portent to many, but You are my strong refuge. |
That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long. | 8My mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your splendor all day long. |
And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing. | 9Do not discard me in my old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails. |
For my enemies are whispering against me. They are plotting together to kill me. | 10For my enemies speak against me, and those who lie in wait for my life conspire, |
They say, “God has abandoned him. Let’s go and get him, for no one will help him now.” | 11saying, “God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for there is no one to rescue him.” |
O God, don’t stay away. My God, please hurry to help me. | 12Be not far from me, O God. Hurry, O my God, to help me. |
Bring disgrace and destruction on my accusers. Humiliate and shame those who want to harm me. | 13May the accusers of my soul be ashamed and consumed; may those who seek my harm be covered with scorn and disgrace. |
But I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more. | 14But I will always hope and will praise You more and more. |
I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words. | 15My mouth will declare Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot know their full measure. |
I will praise your mighty deeds, O Sovereign LORD. I will tell everyone that you alone are just. | 16I will enter in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim Your righteousness—Yours alone. |
O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do. | 17O God, You have taught me from my youth, and to this day I proclaim Your marvelous deeds. |
Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me. | 18Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come. |
Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens. You have done such wonderful things. Who can compare with you, O God? | 19Your righteousness reaches to the heavens, O God, You who have done great things. Who, O God, is like You? |
You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth. | 20Though You have shown me many troubles and misfortunes, You will revive me once again. Even from the depths of the earth You will bring me back up. |
You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again. | 21You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. |
Then I will praise you with music on the harp, because you are faithful to your promises, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel. | 22So I will praise You with the harp for Your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praise to You with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. |
I will shout for joy and sing your praises, for you have ransomed me. | 23When I sing praise to You my lips will shout for joy, along with my soul, which You have redeemed. |
I will tell about your righteous deeds all day long, for everyone who tried to hurt me has been shamed and humiliated. | 24My tongue will indeed proclaim Your righteousness all day long, for those who seek my harm are disgraced and confounded. |
