Psalm 94
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
O LORD, the God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, let your glorious justice shine forth!1O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
Arise, O Judge of the earth. Give the proud what they deserve.2Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
How long, O LORD? How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?3LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
How long will they speak with arrogance? How long will these evil people boast?4How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
They crush your people, LORD, hurting those you claim as your own.5They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.
They kill widows and foreigners and murder orphans.6They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
“The LORD isn’t looking,” they say, “and besides, the God of Israel doesn’t care.”7Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
Think again, you fools! When will you finally catch on?8Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
Is he deaf—the one who made your ears? Is he blind—the one who formed your eyes?9He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
He punishes the nations—won’t he also punish you? He knows everything—doesn’t he also know what you are doing?10He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
The LORD knows people’s thoughts; he knows they are worthless!11The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Joyful are those you discipline, LORD, those you teach with your instructions.12Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
You give them relief from troubled times until a pit is dug to capture the wicked.13That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
The LORD will not reject his people; he will not abandon his special possession.14For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
Judgment will again be founded on justice, and those with virtuous hearts will pursue it.15But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Who will protect me from the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?16Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
Unless the LORD had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave.17Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me.18When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.19In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
Can unjust leaders claim that God is on their side— leaders whose decrees permit injustice?20Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
They gang up against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.21They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
But the LORD is my fortress; my God is the mighty rock where I hide.22But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
God will turn the sins of evil people back on them. He will destroy them for their sins. The LORD our God will destroy them.23And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
