So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city.1So he got into a boat, crossed over, and came to his own town.
Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.”2Just then some men brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher. Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, "Have courage, son, your sins are forgiven."
And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!”3At this, some of the scribes said to themselves, "He's blaspheming!"
But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?4Perceiving their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why are you thinking evil things in your hearts?
For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’?5For which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?
But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” —then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”6But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" --then he told the paralytic, "Get up, take your stretcher, and go home."
And he arose and departed to his house.7So he got up and went home.
Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.8When the crowds saw this, they were awestruck and gave glory to God, who had given such authority to men.
As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.9As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the toll booth, and he said to him, "Follow me," and he got up and followed him.
Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.10While he was reclining at the table in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came to eat with Jesus and his disciples.
And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.12Now when he heard this, he said, "It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who are sick.
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”13Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I didn't come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?”14Then John's disciples came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?"
And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.15Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests be sad while the groom is with them? The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse.16No one patches an old garment with unshrunk cloth, because the patch pulls away from the garment and makes the tear worse.
Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”17And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."
While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.”18As he was telling them these things, suddenly one of the leaders came and knelt down before him, saying, "My daughter just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live."
So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.19So Jesus and his disciples got up and followed him.
And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.20Just then, a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years approached from behind and touched the end of his robe,
For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”21for she said to herself, "If I can just touch his robe, I'll be made well."
But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.22Jesus turned and saw her. "Have courage, daughter," he said. "Your faith has saved you." And the woman was made well from that moment.
When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing,23When Jesus came to the leader's house, he saw the flute players and a crowd lamenting loudly.
He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him.24"Leave," he said, "because the girl is not dead but asleep." And they laughed at him.
But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.25After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up.
And the report of this went out into all that land.26Then news of this spread throughout that whole area.
When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”27As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”28When he entered the house, the blind men approached him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I can do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord."
Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”29Then he touched their eyes, saying, "Let it be done for you according to your faith."
And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it.”30And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus warned them sternly, "Be sure that no one finds out."
But when they had departed, they spread the news about Him in all that country.31But they went out and spread the news about him throughout that whole area.
As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon-possessed.32Just as they were going out, a demon-possessed man who was unable to speak was brought to him.
And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, “It was never seen like this in Israel!”33When the demon had been driven out, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowds were amazed, saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!"
But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.”34But the Pharisees said, "He drives out demons by the ruler of the demons."
Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.35Jesus continued going around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness.
But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.36When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.37Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few.
Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”38Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest."
