| 1Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying: “I will sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! | 1Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD. They said: I will sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted; he has thrown the horse and its rider into the sea. |

| 9The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; My desire shall be satisfied on them. | 22So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea; then they went out into the Wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. | 22Then Moses led Israel on from the Red Sea, and they went out to the Wilderness of Shur. They journeyed for three days in the wilderness without finding water. |
| 23Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. | 23They came to Marah, but they could not drink the water at Marah because it was bitter--that is why it was named Marah. |
| 24And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” | 24The people grumbled to Moses, "What are we going to drink?" |
| 25So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He tested them, | 25So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he threw it into the water, the water became drinkable. The LORD made a statute and ordinance for them at Marah, and he tested them there. |
| 26and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.” | 26He said, "If you will carefully obey the LORD your God, do what is right in his sight, pay attention to his commands, and keep all his statutes, I will not inflict any illnesses on you that I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you." |
| 27Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees; so they camped there by the waters. | 27Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy date palms, and they camped there by the water. |
