New American Standard Bible 1995 | New Living Translation |
In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed. | 1O LORD, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. |
In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; Incline Your ear to me and save me. | 2Save me and rescue me, for you do what is right. Turn your ear to listen to me, and set me free. |
Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress. | 3Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. |
Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the grasp of the wrongdoer and ruthless man, | 4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of cruel oppressors. |
For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth. | 5O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O LORD, from childhood. |
By You I have been sustained from my birth; You are He who took me from my mother's womb; My praise is continually of You. | 6Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you! |
I have become a marvel to many, For You are my strong refuge. | 7My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection. |
My mouth is filled with Your praise And with Your glory all day long. | 8That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long. |
Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails. | 9And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing. |
For my enemies have spoken against me; And those who watch for my life have consulted together, | 10For my enemies are whispering against me. They are plotting together to kill me. |
Saying, "God has forsaken him; Pursue and seize him, for there is no one to deliver." | 11They say, “God has abandoned him. Let’s go and get him, for no one will help him now.” |
O God, do not be far from me; O my God, hasten to my help! | 12O God, don’t stay away. My God, please hurry to help me. |
Let those who are adversaries of my soul be ashamed and consumed; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor, who seek to injure me. | 13Bring disgrace and destruction on my accusers. Humiliate and shame those who want to harm me. |
But as for me, I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. | 14But I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more. |
My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And of Your salvation all day long; For I do not know the sum of them. | 15I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words. |
I will come with the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone. | 16I will praise your mighty deeds, O Sovereign LORD. I will tell everyone that you alone are just. |
O God, You have taught me from my youth, And I still declare Your wondrous deeds. | 17O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do. |
And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come. | 18Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me. |
For Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the heavens, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You? | 19Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens. You have done such wonderful things. Who can compare with you, O God? |
You who have shown me many troubles and distresses Will revive me again, And will bring me up again from the depths of the earth. | 20You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth. |
May You increase my greatness And turn to comfort me. | 21You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again. |
I will also praise You with a harp, Even Your truth, O my God; To You I will sing praises with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. | 22Then I will praise you with music on the harp, because you are faithful to your promises, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel. |
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You; And my soul, which You have redeemed. | 23I will shout for joy and sing your praises, for you have ransomed me. |
My tongue also will utter Your righteousness all day long; For they are ashamed, for they are humiliated who seek my hurt. | 24I will tell about your righteous deeds all day long, for everyone who tried to hurt me has been shamed and humiliated. |
