New American Standard Bible 1995 | English Standard Version |
In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed. | 1In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! |
In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; Incline Your ear to me and save me. | 2In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me! |
Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress. | 3Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. |
Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the grasp of the wrongdoer and ruthless man, | 4Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man. |
For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth. | 5For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth. |
By You I have been sustained from my birth; You are He who took me from my mother's womb; My praise is continually of You. | 6Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you. |
I have become a marvel to many, For You are my strong refuge. | 7I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. |
My mouth is filled with Your praise And with Your glory all day long. | 8My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. |
Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails. | 9Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. |
For my enemies have spoken against me; And those who watch for my life have consulted together, | 10For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together |
Saying, "God has forsaken him; Pursue and seize him, for there is no one to deliver." | 11and say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him.” |
O God, do not be far from me; O my God, hasten to my help! | 12O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! |
Let those who are adversaries of my soul be ashamed and consumed; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor, who seek to injure me. | 13May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt. |
But as for me, I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. | 14But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more. |
My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And of Your salvation all day long; For I do not know the sum of them. | 15My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. |
I will come with the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone. | 16With the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone. |
O God, You have taught me from my youth, And I still declare Your wondrous deeds. | 17O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. |
And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come. | 18So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. |
For Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the heavens, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You? | 19Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? |
You who have shown me many troubles and distresses Will revive me again, And will bring me up again from the depths of the earth. | 20You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. |
May You increase my greatness And turn to comfort me. | 21You will increase my greatness and comfort me again. |
I will also praise You with a harp, Even Your truth, O my God; To You I will sing praises with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. | 22I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. |
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You; And my soul, which You have redeemed. | 23My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed. |
My tongue also will utter Your righteousness all day long; For they are ashamed, for they are humiliated who seek my hurt. | 24And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long, for they have been put to shame and disappointed who sought to do me hurt. |
