And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.1God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.2The fear and terror of you will be in every living creature on the earth, every bird of the sky, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are placed under your authority.
Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.3Every creature that lives and moves will be food for you; as I gave the green plants, I have given you everything.
But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.4However, you must not eat meat with its lifeblood in it.
And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.5And I will require a penalty for your lifeblood; I will require it from any animal and from any human; if someone murders a fellow human, I will require that person's life.
Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.6Whoever sheds human blood, by humans his blood will be shed, for God made humans in his image.
And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.7But you, be fruitful and multiply; spread out over the earth and multiply on it."
And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,8Then God said to Noah and his sons with him,
And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;9"Understand that I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you,
And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.10and with every living creature that is with you--birds, livestock, and all wildlife of the earth that are with you--all the animals of the earth that came out of the ark.
And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.11I establish my covenant with you that never again will every creature be wiped out by floodwaters; there will never again be a flood to destroy the earth."
And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:12And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all future generations:
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.13I have placed my bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:14Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.15I will remember my covenant between me and you and all the living creatures: water will never again become a flood to destroy every creature.
And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.16The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the permanent covenant between God and all the living creatures on earth."
And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.17God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and every creature on earth."
And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.18Noah's sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.
These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.19These three were Noah's sons, and from them the whole earth was populated.
And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:20Noah, as a man of the soil, began by planting a vineyard.
And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.21He drank some of the wine, became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent.
And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.22Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside.
And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.23Then Shem and Japheth took a cloak and placed it over both their shoulders, and walking backward, they covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father naked.
And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.24When Noah awoke from his drinking and learned what his youngest son had done to him,
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.25he said: Canaan is cursed. He will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers.
And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.26He also said: Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem; Let Canaan be Shem's slave.
God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.27Let God extend Japheth; let Japheth dwell in the tents of Shem; let Canaan be Shem's slave.
And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.28Now Noah lived 350 years after the flood.
And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.29So Noah's life lasted 950 years; then he died.
