Psalm 17
ISV Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionKing James Bible
LORD, hear my just plea! Pay attention to my cry! Listen to my prayer, since it does not come from lying lips.1A Prayer of David. Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
Justice for me will come from your presence; your eyes see what is right.2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
When you probe my heart, and examine me at night; when you refine me, you will find nothing wrong, for I have determined that I will not transgress with my mouth.3Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
As for the ways of mankind, I have, according to the words of your lips, avoided the ways of the violent.4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
Because my steps have held fast to your paths, my footsteps have not faltered.5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
I call upon you, for you will answer me, God. Listen closely to me and hear my prayer.6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
Show forth your gracious love, save those who take refuge in you from those who rebel against your sovereign power. 7Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
Protect me as the most precious part of the eye; hide me under the shadow of your wings8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
from the wicked who have afflicted me, from my enemies who have surrounded me.9From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
They are imprisoned by their own prosperity, they have boasted proudly with their mouth.10They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
Now they have encircled our paths and are determined to cast us down to the ground.11They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
Like a lion they desire to rip us to pieces, like a young lion waiting in ambush.12Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
Arise, LORD, confront them, bring them to their knees! Deliver me from the wicked by your sword—13Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:
from men, LORD, by your hand— from men who belong to this world, whose reward is only in this life. But as for your treasured ones, may their stomachs be full, may their children have an abundance, and may they leave wealth to their offspring.14From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
But as for me, justified, I will behold your face; when I awake, your presence will satisfy me.15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
