English Standard Version | NET Bible |
In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! | 1In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated! |
In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me! | 2Vindicate me by rescuing me! Listen to me! Deliver me! |
Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. | 3Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe! For you are my high ridge and my stronghold. |
Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man. | 4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor! |
For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth. | 5For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young. |
Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you. | 6I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually. |
I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. | 7Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter. |
My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. | 8I praise you constantly and speak of your splendor all day long. |
Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. | 9Do not reject me in my old age! When my strength fails, do not abandon me! |
For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together | 10For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise. |
and say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him.” | 11They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!" |
O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! | 12O God, do not remain far away from me! My God, hurry and help me! |
May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt. | 13May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace! |
But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more. | 14As for me, I will wait continually, and will continue to praise you. |
My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. | 15I will tell about your justice, and all day long proclaim your salvation, though I cannot fathom its full extent. |
With the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone. | 16I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign LORD. I will proclaim your justice--yours alone. |
O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. | 17O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds. |
So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. | 18Even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power. |
Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? | 19Your justice, O God, extends to the skies above; you have done great things. O God, who can compare to you? |
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. | 20Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth! |
You will increase my greatness and comfort me again. | 21Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me! |
I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. | 22I will express my thanks to you with a stringed instrument, praising your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing praises to you accompanied by a harp, O Holy One of Israel! |
My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed. | 23My lips will shout for joy! Yes, I will sing your praises! I will praise you when you rescue me! |
And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long, for they have been put to shame and disappointed who sought to do me hurt. | 24All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me will be embarrassed and ashamed. |
