God shall arise, his enemies shall be scattered; and those who hate him shall flee before him!1For the music director; by David, a psalm, a song. God springs into action! His enemies scatter; his adversaries run from him.
As smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away; as wax melts before fire, so the wicked shall perish before God!2As smoke is driven away by the wind, so you drive them away. As wax melts before fire, so the wicked are destroyed before God.
But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy!3But the godly are happy; they rejoice before God and are overcome with joy.
Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the LORD; exult before him!4Sing to God! Sing praises to his name! Exalt the one who rides on the clouds! For the LORD is his name! Rejoice before him!
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.5He is a father to the fatherless and an advocate for widows. God rules from his holy palace.
God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.6God settles those who have been deserted in their own homes; he frees prisoners and grants them prosperity. But sinful rebels live in the desert.
O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness, Selah7O God, when you lead your people into battle, when you march through the desert, (Selah)
the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.8the earth shakes, yes, the heavens pour down rain before God, the God of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.
Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad; you restored your inheritance as it languished;9O God, you cause abundant showers to fall on your chosen people. When they are tired, you sustain them,
your flock found a dwelling in it; in your goodness, O God, you provided for the needy.10for you live among them. You sustain the oppressed with your good blessings, O God.
The Lord gives the word; the women who announce the news are a great host:11The Lord speaks; many, many women spread the good news.
“The kings of the armies—they flee, they flee!” The women at home divide the spoil—12Kings leading armies run away--they run away! The lovely lady of the house divides up the loot.
though you men lie among the sheepfolds— the wings of a dove covered with silver, its pinions with shimmering gold.13When you lie down among the sheepfolds, the wings of the dove are covered with silver and with glittering gold.
When the Almighty scatters kings there, let snow fall on Zalmon.14When the sovereign judge scatters kings, let it snow on Zalmon!
O mountain of God, mountain of Bashan; O many-peaked mountain, mountain of Bashan!15The mountain of Bashan is a towering mountain; the mountain of Bashan is a mountain with many peaks.
Why do you look with hatred, O many-peaked mountain, at the mount that God desired for his abode, yes, where the LORD will dwell forever?16Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks, at the mountain where God has decided to live? Indeed the LORD will live there permanently!
The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.17God has countless chariots; they number in the thousands. The Lord comes from Sinai in holy splendor.
You ascended on high, leading a host of captives in your train and receiving gifts among men, even among the rebellious, that the LORD God may dwell there.18You ascend on high, you have taken many captives. You receive tribute from men, including even sinful rebels. Indeed the LORD God lives there!
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah19The Lord deserves praise! Day after day he carries our burden, the God who delivers us. (Selah)
Our God is a God of salvation, and to GOD, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.20Our God is a God who delivers; the LORD, the sovereign Lord, can rescue from death.
But God will strike the heads of his enemies, the hairy crown of him who walks in his guilty ways.21Indeed God strikes the heads of his enemies, the hairy foreheads of those who persist in rebellion.
The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,22The Lord says, "I will retrieve them from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
that you may strike your feet in their blood, that the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from the foe.”23so that your feet may stomp in their blood, and your dogs may eat their portion of the enemies' corpses."
Your procession is seen, O God, the procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary—24They see your processions, O God--the processions of my God, my king, who marches along in holy splendor.
the singers in front, the musicians last, between them virgins playing tambourines:25Singers walk in front; musicians follow playing their stringed instruments, in the midst of young women playing tambourines.
“Bless God in the great congregation, the LORD, O you who are of Israel’s fountain!”26In your large assemblies praise God, the LORD, in the assemblies of Israel!
There is Benjamin, the least of them, in the lead, the princes of Judah in their throng, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.27There is little Benjamin, their ruler, and the princes of Judah in their robes, along with the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.
Summon your power, O God, the power, O God, by which you have worked for us.28God has decreed that you will be powerful. O God, you who have acted on our behalf, demonstrate your power,
Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings shall bear gifts to you.29as you come out of your temple in Jerusalem! Kings bring tribute to you.
Rebuke the beasts that dwell among the reeds, the herd of bulls with the calves of the peoples. Trample underfoot those who lust after tribute; scatter the peoples who delight in war.30Sound your battle cry against the wild beast of the reeds, and the nations that assemble like a herd of calves led by bulls! They humble themselves and offer gold and silver as tribute. God scatters the nations that like to do battle.
Nobles shall come from Egypt; Cush shall hasten to stretch out her hands to God.31They come with red cloth from Egypt, Ethiopia voluntarily offers tribute to God.
O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; sing praises to the Lord, Selah32O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God! Sing praises to the Lord, (Selah)
to him who rides in the heavens, the ancient heavens; behold, he sends out his voice, his mighty voice.33to the one who rides through the sky from ancient times! Look! He thunders loudly.
Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over Israel, and whose power is in the skies.34Acknowledge God's power, his sovereignty over Israel, and the power he reveals in the skies!
Awesome is God from his sanctuary; the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!35You are awe-inspiring, O God, as you emerge from your holy temple! It is the God of Israel who gives the people power and strength. God deserves praise!
