CSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD.1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
"This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Write on a scroll all the words that I have spoken to you,2“Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you.
for look, the days are coming"--this is the LORD's declaration--"when I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel and Judah," says the LORD. "I will restore them to the land I gave to their ancestors and they will possess it."3For behold, days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, says the LORD, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it.”
These are the words the LORD spoke to Israel and Judah.4These are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and Judah:
This is what the LORD says: We have heard a cry of terror, of dread--there is no peace.5“Thus says the LORD: We have heard a cry of panic, of terror, and no peace.
Ask and see whether a male can give birth. Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor and every face turned pale?6Ask now, and see, can a man bear a child? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor? Why has every face turned pale?
How awful that day will be! There will be no other like it! It will be a time of trouble for Jacob, but he will be saved out of it.7Alas! That day is so great there is none like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob; yet he shall be saved out of it.
On that day--this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies--I will break his yoke from your neck and tear off your chains, and strangers will never again enslave him.8“And it shall come to pass in that day, declares the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and I will burst your bonds, and foreigners shall no more make a servant of him.
They will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.9But they shall serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.
As for you, my servant Jacob, do not be afraid--this is the LORD's declaration--and do not be discouraged, Israel, for without fail I will save you out of a distant place, your descendants, from the land of their captivity! Jacob will return and have calm and quiet with no one to frighten him.10“Then fear not, O Jacob my servant, declares the LORD, nor be dismayed, O Israel; for behold, I will save you from far away, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid.
For I will be with you--this is the LORD's declaration--to save you! I will bring destruction on all the nations where I have scattered you; however, I will not bring destruction on you. I will discipline you justly, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.11For I am with you to save you, declares the LORD; I will make a full end of all the nations among whom I scattered you, but of you I will not make a full end. I will discipline you in just measure, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.
For this is what the LORD says: Your injury is incurable; your wound most severe.12“For thus says the LORD: Your hurt is incurable, and your wound is grievous.
You have no defender for your case. There is no remedy for your sores, and no healing for you.13There is none to uphold your cause, no medicine for your wound, no healing for you.
All your lovers have forgotten you; they no longer look for you, for I have struck you as an enemy would, with the discipline of someone cruel, because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins.14All your lovers have forgotten you; they care nothing for you; for I have dealt you the blow of an enemy, the punishment of a merciless foe, because your guilt is great, because your sins are flagrant.
Why do you cry out about your injury? Your pain has no cure! I have done these things to you because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins.15Why do you cry out over your hurt? Your pain is incurable. Because your guilt is great, because your sins are flagrant, I have done these things to you.
Nevertheless, all who devoured you will be devoured, and all your adversaries--all of them--will go off into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered, and all who raid you will be raided.16Therefore all who devour you shall be devoured, and all your foes, every one of them, shall go into captivity; those who plunder you shall be plundered, and all who prey on you I will make a prey.
But I will bring you health and will heal you of your wounds--this is the LORD's declaration--for they call you Outcast, Zion whom no one cares about.17For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the LORD, because they have called you an outcast: ‘It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’
This is what the LORD says: I will certainly restore the fortunes of Jacob's tents and show compassion on his dwellings. Every city will be rebuilt on its mound; every citadel will stand on its proper site.18“Thus says the LORD: Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob and have compassion on his dwellings; the city shall be rebuilt on its mound, and the palace shall stand where it used to be.
Thanksgiving will come out of them, a sound of rejoicing. I will multiply them, and they will not decrease; I will honor them, and they will not be insignificant.19Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.
His children will be as in past days; his congregation will be established in my presence. I will punish all his oppressors.20Their children shall be as they were of old, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all who oppress them.
Jacob's leader will be one of them; his ruler will issue from him. I will invite him to me, and he will approach me, for who would otherwise risk his life to approach me? This is the LORD's declaration.21Their prince shall be one of themselves; their ruler shall come out from their midst; I will make him draw near, and he shall approach me, for who would dare of himself to approach me? declares the LORD.
You will be my people, and I will be your God.22And you shall be my people, and I will be your God.”
Look, a storm from the LORD! Wrath has gone out, a churning storm. It will whirl about the heads of the wicked.23Behold the storm of the LORD! Wrath has gone forth, a whirling tempest; it will burst upon the head of the wicked.
The LORD's burning anger will not turn back until he has completely fulfilled the purposes of his heart. In time to come you will understand it.24The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back until he has executed and accomplished the intentions of his mind. In the latter days you will understand this.
