He wraps Himself in light as with a garment; He stretches out the heavens like a tent, | 2He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain, |
laying the beams of His chambers in the waters above, making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind. | 3and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind. |
He makes the winds His messengers, flames of fire His servants. | 4He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant. |
He set the earth on its foundations, never to be moved. | 5He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended. |

At Your rebuke the waters fled; at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away— | 7Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off-- |
the mountains rose and the valleys sank to the place You assigned for them— | 8as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down--to the place you appointed for them. |
You set a boundary they cannot cross, that they may never again cover the earth. | 9You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again. |

The birds of the air nest beside the springs; they sing among the branches. | 12The birds of the sky live beside them; they chirp among the bushes. |
He waters the mountains from His chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of His works. | 13He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow. |
He makes the grass grow for the livestock and provides crops for man to cultivate, bringing forth food from the earth: | 14He provides grass for the cattle, and crops for people to cultivate, so they can produce food from the ground, |
wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil that makes his face to shine, and bread that sustains his heart. | 15as well as wine that makes people feel so good, and so they can have oil to make their faces shine, as well as food that sustains people's lives. |
The trees of the LORD have their fill, the cedars of Lebanon that He planted, | 16The trees of the LORD receive all the rain they need, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted, |

The sun rises, and they withdraw; they lie down in their dens. | 22When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens. |
Man goes forth to his work and to his labor until evening. | 23Men then go out to do their work, and labor away until evening. |
How many are Your works, O LORD! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures. | 24How many living things you have made, O LORD! You have exhibited great skill in making all of them; the earth is full of the living things you have made. |
Here is the sea, vast and wide, teeming with creatures beyond number, living things both great and small. | 25Over here is the deep, wide sea, which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, living things both small and large. |
There the ships pass, and Leviathan, which You formed to frolic there. | 26The ships travel there, and over here swims the whale you made to play in it. |
All creatures look to You to give them their food in due season. | 27All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis. |
When You give it to them, they gather it up; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things. | 28You give food to them and they receive it; you open your hand and they are filled with food. |
When You hide Your face, they are terrified; when You take away their breath, they die and return to dust. | 29When you ignore them, they panic. When you take away their life's breath, they die and return to dust. |
When You send Your Spirit, they are created, and You renew the face of the earth. | 30When you send your life-giving breath, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the ground. |
May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in His works. | 31May the splendor of the LORD endure! May the LORD find pleasure in the living things he has made! |
He looks on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smolder. | 32He looks down on the earth and it shakes; he touches the mountains and they start to smolder. |
I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. | 33I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist! |
May my meditation be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the LORD. | 34May my thoughts be pleasing to him! I will rejoice in the LORD. |
May sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Hallelujah! | 35May sinners disappear from the earth, and the wicked vanish! Praise the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD! |
