Make a Joyful Noise
(Psalm 100:1–5)

1 לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ (For the one directing), שִׁ֣יר (a Song). מִזְמ֑וֹר (A Psalm). הָרִ֥יעוּ (Shout) לֵ֝אלֹהִים (to God), כָּל־ (all) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (the earth)!

2 זַמְּר֥וּ (Sing forth) כְבֽוֹד־ (the glory) שְׁמ֑וֹ (of His name); שִׂ֥ימוּ (make) כָ֝ב֗וֹד (glorious) תְּהִלָּתֽוֹ׃ (His praise).

3 אִמְר֣וּ (Say) לֵ֭אלֹהִים (to God), מַה־ (How) נּוֹרָ֣א (awesome are) מַעֲשֶׂ֑יךָ (Your works)! בְּרֹ֥ב (In the abundance) עֻ֝זְּךָ֗ (of Your might) יְֽכַחֲשׁ֖וּ (feign obedience) לְךָ֣ (to You) אֹיְבֶֽיךָ׃ (Your enemies).

4 כָּל־ (All) הָאָ֤רֶץ׀ (the earth) יִשְׁתַּחֲו֣וּ (will bow down) לְ֭ךָ (to You) וִֽיזַמְּרוּ־ (and will sing) לָ֑ךְ (to You); יְזַמְּר֖וּ (they will sing praises) שִׁמְךָ֣ (to Your name). סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

5 לְכ֣וּ (Come) וּ֭רְאוּ (and see) מִפְעֲל֣וֹת (the works) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (of God); נוֹרָ֥א (being fearsome) עֲ֝לִילָ֗ה (in His dealing) עַל־ (with) בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) אָדָֽם׃ (of man).

6 הָ֤פַךְ (He turned over) יָ֨ם׀ (the sea) לְֽיַבָּשָׁ֗ה (to dry land) בַּ֭נָּהָר (through the river) יַֽעַבְר֣וּ (they passed over) בְרָ֑גֶל (on foot); שָׁ֝֗ם (there) נִשְׂמְחָה־ (we rejoiced) בּֽוֹ׃ (in Him).

7 מֹ֘שֵׁ֤ל (Ruling) בִּגְבוּרָת֨וֹ׀ (in His might) עוֹלָ֗ם (forever); עֵ֭ינָיו (His eyes) בַּגּוֹיִ֣ם (on the nations) תִּצְפֶּ֑ינָה (keep watch); הַסּוֹרְרִ֓ים׀ (those rebelling) אַל־ (not) יָרִימוּ (should lift high) לָ֣מוֹ (themselves). סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

8 בָּרְכ֖וּ (bless), עַמִּ֥ים׀ (O peoples), אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ (our God), וְ֝הַשְׁמִ֗יעוּ (and make to be heard) ק֣וֹל (the voice) תְּהִלָּתֽוֹ׃ (of His praise),

9 הַשָּׂ֣ם (the One putting) נַ֭פְשֵׁנוּ (our soul) בַּֽחַיִּ֑ים (among the living), וְלֹֽא־ (and not) נָתַ֖ן (having given) לַמּ֣וֹט (to slip) רַגְלֵֽנוּ׃ (our feet).

10 כִּֽי־ (For) בְחַנְתָּ֥נוּ (You have tested us), אֱלֹהִ֑ים (O God); צְ֝רַפְתָּ֗נוּ (You have refined us) כִּצְרָף־ (like the refining) כָּֽסֶף׃ (of silver).

11 הֲבֵאתָ֥נוּ (You have brought us) בַמְּצוּדָ֑ה (into a net); שַׂ֖מְתָּ (You have placed) מוּעָקָ֣ה (pressure) בְמָתְנֵֽינוּ׃ (on our backs).

12 הִרְכַּ֥בְתָּ (You have caused to ride) אֱנ֗וֹשׁ (man) לְרֹ֫אשֵׁ֥נוּ (over our heads); בָּֽאנוּ־ (we came) בָאֵ֥שׁ (into the fire) וּבַמַּ֑יִם (and into the water), וַ֝תּוֹצִיאֵ֗נוּ (and You brought us forth) לָֽרְוָיָֽה׃ (to a watered place).

13 אָב֣וֹא (I will come into) בֵיתְךָ֣ (your house) בְעוֹל֑וֹת (with burnt offerings); אֲשַׁלֵּ֖ם (I will fulfill) לְךָ֣ (to You) נְדָרָֽי׃ (my vows),

14 אֲשֶׁר־ (for which) פָּצ֥וּ (have opened) שְׂפָתָ֑י (my lips), וְדִבֶּר־ (and has spoken) פִּ֝֗י (my mouth) בַּצַּר־ (in the distress) לִֽי׃ (for me).

15 עֹ֘ל֤וֹת (Burnt offerings) מֵחִ֣ים (of fatlings) אַעֲלֶה־ (I will offer) לָּ֭ךְ (to You) עִם־ (with) קְטֹ֣רֶת (the fragrant smoke) אֵילִ֑ים (of rams); אֶ֥עֱשֶֽׂה (I will offer) בָקָ֖ר (of bulls) עִם־ (with) עַתּוּדִ֣ים (goats). סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

16 לְכֽוּ־ (Come), שִׁמְע֣וּ (listen), וַ֭אֲסַפְּרָה (and I will recount)— כָּל־ (all) יִרְאֵ֣י (who fear) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (God)— אֲשֶׁ֖ר (what) עָשָׂ֣ה (He has done) לְנַפְשִֽׁי׃ (for my soul).

17 אֵלָ֥יו (To Him) פִּֽי־ (with my mouth) קָרָ֑אתִי (I called out), וְ֝רוֹמַ֗ם (and He was praised) תַּ֣חַת (under) לְשׁוֹנִֽי׃ (my tongue).

18 אָ֭וֶן (Iniquity), אִם־ (if) רָאִ֣יתִי (I had seen) בְלִבִּ֑י (in my heart), לֹ֖א (not) יִשְׁמַ֣ע׀ (would have listened) אֲדֹנָֽי׃ (the Lord).

19 אָ֭כֵן (Surely) שָׁמַ֣ע (has heard) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (God); הִ֝קְשִׁ֗יב (He has attended) בְּק֣וֹל (to the voice) תְּפִלָּתִֽי׃ (of my prayer).

20 בָּר֥וּךְ (Blessed be) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (God), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) לֹֽא־ (not) הֵסִ֘יר (has turned aside) תְּפִלָּתִ֥י (my prayer), וְ֝חַסְדּ֗וֹ (or His loving devotion) מֵאִתִּֽי׃ (from me).
