The Ministry of the Twelve 1And, having called together the twelve, He gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to heal diseases;
and He sent them forth to preach the Kingdom of God, and to heal the sick;
and He said to them, Herod Tries to See Jesus 7Now Herod, the tetrarch, heard of all the things that were taking place; and he was thoroughly perplexed, because it was said by some that John was raised from the dead;
and by some that Elijah appeared; and, by others, that a certain ancient prophet arose.
And Herod said, "John I beheaded; but Who is This concerning Whom I hear such things?" And he was seeking to see Him. The Feeding of the Five Thousand 10And the apostles, having returned, related to Him what they did. And, taking them with Him, He retired privately to a city called Bethsaida.
But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed Him; and, having welcomed them, He was speaking to them concerning the Kingdom of God, and those having need of cure He healed.
And the day began to decline. And the twelve, coming near, said to Him, "Send away the multitudes; that, going into the villages and country round about, they may lodge and find food; because we are here in a desert place."
But He said to them, Peter’s Confession of Christ 18And it came to pass, as He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him, and He asked them, saying, Christ’s Passion Foretold 21And He, having admonished them, commanded them to tell this to no one;
saying, Take Up Your Cross 23And He said to all, The Transfiguration 28And it came to pass, about eight days after these words, that, taking Peter, and John, and James, He went up into the mountain to pray.
And it came to pass, as He was praying, that the appearance of His countenance was altered, and His raiment became white and dazzling.
And, behold, two men were talking with Him, who, indeed, were Moses and Elijah;
who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
Now Peter and those with him had become heavy with sleep; but, having watched through it, they saw His glory, and the two men who were standing with Him.
And it came to pass, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good that we are here; and let us make three tents; one for Thee, one for Moses, and one for Elijah;" not knowing what he was saying.
Now, while he was saying these things, there came a cloud, and it was overshadowing them; and they feared, as they entered into the cloud.
And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is My Son, the Chosen; hear ye Him."
And, when the voice came, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent, and told no one, in those days, any of the things which they had seen. The Boy with an Evil Spirit 37And it came to pass on the next day, when they came down from the mountain, that a great multitude met Him.
And, behold, a man from the multitude cried, saying, "Teacher, I pray Thee to look upon my son, because he is my only begotten.
And, behold, a spirit takes him, and suddenly he cries out, and it convulses him with foaming, and with difficulty it departs from him, bruising him;
and I besought Thy disciples to cast it out, but they were not able."
And Jesus answering, said, The Second Prediction of the Passion 43And they were all amazed at the Majesty of God! And while all were marvelling at all the things which He was doing, He said to His disciples,
The Greatest in the Kingdom 46And there entered a reasoning among them, as to which of them should be greatest.
Now Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their heart, taking a child, placed it by Himself,
and said to them,
And John, answering, said, "Master, we saw one casting out demons in Thy name; and we forbade him, because he follows not with us."
And Jesus said to him, The Samaritans Reject Jesus 51And it came to pass, when the days for receiving Him up were being completed, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem;
and He sent forth messengers before His face; and, journeying onward, they entered into a village of Samaritans, so as to prepare for Him.
And they did not receive Him, because His face was as if He were going to Jerusalem.
And, seeing it, His disciples, James and John, said, "Lord, dost Thou wish that we bid fire come down from heaven, and consume them?"
But, turning, He rebuked them.
And they went on to another village. The Cost of Discipleship 57And, as they were journeying in the way, a certain one said to Him, "I will follow Thee wheresoever Thou goest."
