1These are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and sons were born to them after the flood. 2The sons of Japheth were: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4And the sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 5By these were the seafaring people spread to various lands; each nation with its own language and national identity. 6And the sons of Ham were: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. 7And the sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba, and Dedan. 8And Cush was the father of Nimrod; who became a mighty warrior on the earth. 9He was a skilled hunter before the LORD: that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.” 10And he built his kingdom in the land of Babylonia (Shinar), with cities of Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh. 11From there he expanded his territory to Asshur (Assyria), and built the cities of Nineveh; Rehoboth; Calah; 12Resen, a great city between Nineveh and Calah. 13And Mizraim fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, 14Pathrusim, Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistines), and Caphtorim. 15And Canaan was the father of: Sidon, his firstborn, ancestor of the Sidonians; and Heth, the Hittites, 16Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, 17Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 18Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. And later, the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. 19Their border was from Sidon, as you come to Gerar, to Gaza; then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, and on to Lasha. 20These are the sons of Ham, by their clans and their languages, in their territories, and nations. 21Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. 22The children of Shem were: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. 23And the descendants of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. 24And Arpachshad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber. 25And to Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg (meaning “division” (Gen.11:7)); for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother's name was Joktan. 26And Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. These were all the sons of Joktan. 30And their territory stretched from Mesha, to Sephar, a hill country to the east. 31These are the sons of Shem, after their clans, with their languages, in their lands, after their nations. 32All these are the families (descendants) of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
