1 And YHWH said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and speak to him: Thus says YHWH God of the Hebrews, ‘Send out, My people that they may serve Me. 2 For if you refuse to send them out, and you are still holding on to them, 3 behold, the hand of YHWH will be on your livestock that are in the field—on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the cattle, and on the flocks—a very severe pestilence. 4 And YHWH will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and between the livestock of Egypt, and not a thing shall die from all that belongs to the sons of Israel.’” 5 And YHWH set an appointed time, saying, “Tomorrow YHWH will do this thing in the land.” 6 And YHWH did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died. And from the livestock of the sons of Israel, not one died. 7 And Pharaoh sent, and behold, not even one of the livestock of Israel had died. And the heart of Pharaoh was heavy, and he did not send out. the people 8 And YHWH said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take for yourselves the fullness of both palms of soot of a furnace, and Moses shall scatter it toward the heavens before the eyes of Pharaoh. 9 And it will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and it shall become boils bursting with blisters, on man and on beast, in all the land of Egypt.” 10 And they took soot of the furnace and stood before the face of Pharaoh. And Moses scattered it toward the heavens, and it became boils with blisters bursting, on the man and on the beast. 11 And the magicians were not able to stand before the face of Moses, because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians and on all Egypt. 12 And YHWH strengthened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, as YHWH had spoken to Moses. 13 And YHWH said to Moses, “Rise early in the morning and stand before the face of Pharaoh and say to him: Thus says YHWH God of the Hebrews, ‘Send out My people, that they may serve Me. 14 For at this time I am sending all My plagues to your heart, and on your servants, and on your people, in order that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth. 15 For now I could have stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with the pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth. 16 But indeed for this reason I have caused you to stand, in order to show you My power, and in order to proclaim My name in all the earth.
