1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, every one judging. For in whatsoever thou art judging another, thou art condemning thyself; for thou judging art doing the same things. Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
2 For we know that the judgment of God according to truth is against those doing such things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.
3 But do you consider this, O man, judging those doing such things, and doing the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God? Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?
4 Do you look with contempt upon the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God is leading you to repentance? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
5 But according to thy hardness and thy impenitent heart, thou art treasuring up to thyself wrath against the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God; But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.
6 who will give to each one according to his works: He will render to each one according to his works: God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”
7 to those indeed who with patience of good work are seeking glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
8 but to those who are of self-seeking, and disobedient to the truth, but obedient to unrighteousness, there are indignation and wrath. but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
9 Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that is working out evil, both the Jew first, and the Greek; There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;
10 but glory and honor and peace to every one doing good; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
11 For there is no respect of persons with God. For God shows no partiality. For God does not show favoritism.
12 For so many as sinned without law will also perish without law; and so many as sinned under the law shall be judged by the law; For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
13 for the hearers of the law are not righteous with God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.
14 For when the Gentiles, not having the law, may by nature do the things of the law, they, not having the law, are a law unto themselves: For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law.
15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience witnessing, and their thoughts accusing or indeed excusing with one another, They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.)
16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men through my gospel according to Jesus Christ. on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
17 But if you are denominated a Jew, and rest in the law, and boast in God, But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God;
18 and know his will, and approve the things which are excellent, being taught by the law; and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law;
19 and persuade yourself that you are a guide of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness, an instructor of the ignorant, and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark,
20 a teacher of the juveniles, having a form of knowledge and truth in the law; an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth—
21 therefore do not you who teach another teach yourself? do you, who preach not to steal, steal? you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?
22 do you, who say not to commit adultery, commit adultery? do you, who abominate idolatry, rob temples? You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
23 do you, who boast in the law, through the transgression of the law dishonor God? You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?
24 For the name of God is blasphemed by you among the Gentiles, as has been written. For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
25 For circumcision indeed profits, if you do the law: but if you be a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised.
26 Then if uncircumcision may keep the righteousness of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? So then, if those who are not circumcised keep the law’s requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised?
27 and that which is uncircumcision by nature, perfecting the law, will judge you, who through the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law. Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law. The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker.
28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is circumcision that which is outwardly in the flesh. For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.
29 But he is a Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.
