1 But him that is weak in the faith receive ye, yet not for decisions of scruples. As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.
2 One believes that he may eat all things; but he that is weak eats herbs. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.
3 Let not him that eats despise him that eats not; and let not him that does not eat despise him that eats; for God received him. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.
4 Who are you that judge another's servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. But he shall be made to stand; for the Lord is able to make him stand. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.
5 One man, indeed, esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike . Let each one be fully convinced in his own mind. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
6 He that regards the day regards it to the Lord; and he that eats eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he that eats not, to the Lord he eats not, and gives thanks to God. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.
7 For no one of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone.
8 For, if we live, we live to the Lord; and, if we die, we die to the Lord: whether we live, therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
9 For to this end Christ died, and lived, that He might be Lord of both dead and living. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
10 But you—why do you judge your brother? or you also—why do you despise your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God. Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.
11 For it has been written, "As I live, saith the Lord, to Me every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess to God." for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” It is written: “’As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’”
12 So, then, each one of us shall give account concerning himself to God. So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.
13 Let us not, therefore, judge one another any more; but judge ye this rather, not to put a stumbling-block, or an occasion of falling, in a brother's way. Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.
14 I know, and have been persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself: except that to him who accounts anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.
15 For, if because of your food your brother is aggrieved, you are no longer walking in accordance with love. Destroy not with your food him for whom Christ died. For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.
16 Let not, therefore, your good be evil spoken of; So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil.
17 for the Kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
18 For he that in these things serves Christ, is well-pleasing to God, and approved by men. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.
19 So, then, let us follow after the things productive of peace, and the things that tend to mutual edification. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
20 Do not, for the sake of food, overthrow the work of God. All things, indeed, are clean; but it is evil to him who eats with offense. Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble.
21 It is good, neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor to do anything whereby your brother stumbles. It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.
22 The faith which you have, have to yourself before God. Happy is he that judges not himself in that which he approves. The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves.
23 And he who doubts is condemned, if he eat, because he eats not of faith; and all that is not of faith is sin. But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin. But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.
