1 And it happened that on one of the days while He was teaching the people in the temple and proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders came up to Him, One day, as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders came up One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him.

3 And Jesus answered and said to them, “I will also ask you a question, and you tell Me: He answered them, “I also will ask you a question. Now tell me, He replied, “I will also ask you a question. Tell me:
4 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men?” was the baptism of John from heaven or from man?” John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin?”
5 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’ And they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’ They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Why didn’t you believe him?’
6 But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us to death, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.” But if we say, ‘From man,’ all the people will stone us to death, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.” But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”
7 So they answered that they did not know where it came from. So they answered that they did not know where it came from. So they answered, “We don’t know where it was from.”
8 And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.” And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
9 And He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard and rented it out to vine-growers, and went on a journey for a long time. 14 But when the vine-growers saw him, they were reasoning with one another, saying, ‘This is the heir; let us kill him so that the inheritance will be ours.’ But when the tenants saw him, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Let us kill him, so that the inheritance may be ours.’ “But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. ‘This is the heir,’ they said. ‘Let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’
15 So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them? And they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. “What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
16 He will come and destroy these vine-growers and will give the vineyard to others.” When they heard this, they said, “May it never be!” He will come and destroy those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” When they heard this, they said, “Surely not!” He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” When the people heard this, they said, “God forbid!”
17 But when Jesus looked at them, He said, “What then is this that is written: ‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone’? But he looked directly at them and said, “What then is this that is written: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’? Jesus looked directly at them and asked, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written: “’The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’?
18 Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust.” Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.” Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”
19 And the scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on Him that very hour, but they feared the people. For they understood that He spoke this parable against them. The scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him at that very hour, for they perceived that he had told this parable against them, but they feared the people. The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.
20 So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, so that they might catch Him in some statement, in order to deliver Him to the rule and the authority of the governor. 21 And they questioned Him, saying, “Teacher, we know that You speak and teach correctly, and You are not partial to any, but teach the way of God in truth. 26 And they were unable to catch Him in a word in the presence of the people; and marveling at His answer, they became silent. And they were not able in the presence of the people to catch him in what he said, but marveling at his answer they became silent. They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent.
27 Now some of the Sadducees (who say that there is no resurrection) came to Him, There came to him some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection, Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question.
28 and they questioned Him, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that IF A MAN’S BROTHER DIES, having a wife, AND HE IS CHILDLESS, HIS BROTHER SHOULD MARRY THE WIFE AND RAISE UP SEED FOR HIS BROTHER. and they asked him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. “Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.
29 Now there were seven brothers; and the first married a wife and died childless, Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children. Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless.

They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection.
37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed in the passage about the burning bush, where he calls the Lord THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB. 40 For they did not dare to question Him any longer about anything. For they no longer dared to ask him any question. And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
41 Then He said to them, “How is it that they say the Christ is David’s son? But he said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is David’s son? Then Jesus said to them, “Why is it said that the Messiah is the son of David?
42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, “SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, For David himself says in the Book of Psalms, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, David himself declares in the Book of Psalms: “’The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand
43 UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES AS A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET.”’ until I make your enemies your footstool.”’ until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.|’
44 Therefore David calls Him ‘Lord,’ so how is He his son?” David thus calls him Lord, so how is he his son?” David calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?”
