1 AND God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there; and build there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the presence of your brother Esau. God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there. Make an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.” Then God said to Jacob, “Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.”
2 Then Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments; So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you and purify yourselves and change your garments. So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.
3 And let us arise and go up to Beth-el; and I will build there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the journey that I took. Then let us arise and go up to Bethel, so that I may make there an altar to the God who answers me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.” Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.”
4 So they gave to Jacob all the strange gods that were in their possession, and the earrings that were in their ears; and Jacob buried them under the oak which was by Shechem. So they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods that they had, and the rings that were in their ears. Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree that was near Shechem. So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem.
5 And they journeyed; and the fear of God fell upon the towns that were round about them, and they did not pursue after Jacob and his sons. And as they journeyed, a terror from God fell upon the cities that were around them, so that they did not pursue the sons of Jacob. Then they set out, and the terror of God fell on the towns all around them so that no one pursued them.
6 So Jacob came to Luz, that is Beth-el, which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people that were with him. And Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him, Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.
7 And he built there an altar, and called the place Beth-el (the house of God), because there God appeared to him when he fled from the presence of his brother Esau. and there he built an altar and called the place El-bethel, because there God had revealed himself to him when he fled from his brother. And Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried under an oak below Bethel. So he called its name Allon-bacuth. Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died and was buried under the oak outside Bethel. So it was named Allon Bakuth.

I am God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply: a people and a multitude of peoples shall come from you, and kings shall come out of your loins; And God said to him, “I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, and kings shall come from your own body. And God said to him, “I am God Almighty; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.
12 And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you, and to your descendants after you will I give the land. The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you, and I will give the land to your offspring after you.” The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.”

Then they journeyed from Bethel. When they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor, and she had hard labor. Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and had great difficulty.
17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, the midwife said to her, Fear not; for this one also is a son for you. And when her labor was at its hardest, the midwife said to her, “Do not fear, for you have another son.” And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife said to her, “Don’t despair, for you have another son.”
18 And it came to pass, as her soul was departing and she was dying, she called the child's name Bar-kebai (the Son of My Sorrow); but his father called him Benjamin (the Son of My Right Hand). And as her soul was departing (for she was dying), she called his name Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin. As she breathed her last—for she was dying—she named her son Ben-Oni. But his father named him Benjamin.
19 And Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath, which is Beth-lehem. So Rachel died, and she was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem), So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
20 And Jacob set up a pillar upon the grave of Rachel; that is the pillar of Rachel's grave to this day. and Jacob set up a pillar over her tomb. It is the pillar of Rachel’s tomb, which is there to this day. Over her tomb Jacob set up a pillar, and to this day that pillar marks Rachel’s tomb.
21 And Israel journeyed, and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Gadar. Israel journeyed on and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Eder. Israel moved on again and pitched his tent beyond Migdal Eder.
22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father's concubine; and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: While Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine. And Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve. While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father’s concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard of it. Jacob had twelve sons:

26 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's maid: Gad, and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob that were born to him in Padan-aram. The sons of Zilpah, Leah’s servant: Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Paddan-aram. The sons of Leah’s servant Zilpah: Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddan Aram.
27 And Jacob came to his father Isaac to Mamre, to Koriath Gabarey, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac had sojourned. And Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, or Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had sojourned. Jacob came home to his father Isaac in Mamre, near Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed.
28 And the days of Isaac were a hundred and eighty years. Now the days of Isaac were 180 years. Isaac lived a hundred and eighty years.
29 Then Isaac grew weak and died; and he was gathered to his people, being very old and full of days; and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him in the burial ground which his father Abraham had purchased. And Isaac breathed his last, and he died and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him. Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
