1 Meanwhile, still spewing death threats against the Lord's disciples, Saul went to the high priest. 5 He asked, |Who are you, Lord?| The voice said, |I'm Jesus, whom you are persecuting. And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
6 Now get up, go into the city, and you will be told what you are to do.| But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.” “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7 Meanwhile, the men who were traveling with Saul were standing speechless, for they heard the voice but didn't see anyone. The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one. The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone.
8 When Saul got up off the ground, he couldn't see anything, even though his eyes were open. So his companions took him by the hand and led him into Damascus. Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus.
9 For three days he couldn't see, and he didn't eat or drink anything. And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank. For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.
10 Now in Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called out to him in a vision, |Ananias!| He answered, |Here I am, Lord.| Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered.
11 The Lord told him, |Get up, go to the street called Straight, and in the home of Judas look for a man from Tarsus named Saul. At this very moment he's praying. And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying, The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.
12 He has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so he would see again.| and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.” In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”
13 But Ananias answered, |Lord, I have heard many people tell how much evil this man has done to your saints in Jerusalem. But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem. “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem.
14 He is here with authority from the high priests to put in chains all who call on your name.| And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.” And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”
15 But the Lord told him, |Go, because he's my chosen instrument to carry my name to unbelievers, to their kings, and to the descendants of Israel. But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.
16 since I'm going to show him how much he must suffer for my name's sake.| For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.” I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
17 So Ananias left and went to that house. He laid his hands on Saul and said, |Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were traveling, has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.| So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18 All at once something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. 19 and after eating some food, he felt strong again. For several days he stayed with the disciples in Damascus. and taking food, he was strengthened. 21 Everyone who heard him was astonished and said, |This is the man who harassed those who were calling on Jesus' name in Jerusalem, isn't it? Didn't he come here to bring them in chains to the high priests?| And all who heard him were amazed and said, “Is not this the man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called upon this name? And has he not come here for this purpose, to bring them bound before the chief priests?” All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?”
22 But Saul grew more and more persuasive, and continued to confound the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that this man was the Messiah. But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ. Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.

29 He kept talking and arguing with the Hellenistic Jews, but they were bent on murdering him. And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists. But they were seeking to kill him. He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him.
30 When the brothers found out about the plot, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him away to Tarsus. And when the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus. When the believers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.
31 So the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed peace. 32 Now when Peter was going around among all of the disciples, he also visited the saints living in Lydda. Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda. As Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the Lord’s people who lived in Lydda.

34 Peter told him, |Aeneas, Jesus the Messiah is healing you. 36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, which in Greek is Dorcas. She was known for her good actions and acts of charity that she was always doing. 37 At that time, she got sick and died. After they had washed her, they laid her in an upstairs room. Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
40 Peter made them all go outside. After kneeling down, he prayed, turned to the body, and said, |Tabitha, get up!| She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.
41 He extended his hand and helped her get up. Then he called the saints, including the widows, and gave her back to them alive. And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive.
42 What happened became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
43 Meanwhile, Peter stayed in Joppa for several days with Simon, a leatherworker. And he stayed in Joppa for many days with one Simon, a tanner. Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon.
