2	And asked of him letters to Damascus, to the synagogues: that if he found any men and wemen of this way, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.	and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.	and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
3	And as he went on his journey, it came to pass that he drew nigh to Damascus; and suddenly a light from heaven shined round about him. 4	And falling on the ground, he heard a voice saying to him: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?	And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”	He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
5	Who said: Who art thou, Lord? And he: I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the goad.	And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.	“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
6	And he trembling and astonished, said: Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?	But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.”	“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7	And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the city, and there it shall be told thee what thou must do. Now the men who went in company with him, stood amazed, hearing indeed a voice, but seeing no man.	The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.	The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone.
8	And Saul arose from the ground; and when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. But they leading him by the hands, brought him to Damascus.	Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.	Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus.
9	And he was there three days, without sight, and he did neither eat nor drink.	And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.	For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.
10	Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias. And the Lord said to him in a vision: Ananias. And he said: Behold I am here, Lord.	Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.”	In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered.
11	And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the street that is called Stait, and seek in the house of Judas, one named Saul of Tarsus. For behold he prayeth.	And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying,	The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.
12	(And he saw a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hands upon him, that he might receive his sight.)	and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.”	In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”
13	But Ananias answered: Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints in Jerusalem.	But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem.	“Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem.
14	And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that invoke thy name.	And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”	And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”
15	And the Lord said to him: Go thy way; for this man is to me a vessel of election, to carry my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.	But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.	But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.
16	For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.	For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”	I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
17	And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house. And laying his hands upon him, he said: Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus hath sent me, he that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest; that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.	So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”	Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18	And immediately there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he received his sight; and rising up, he was baptized.	And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;	Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,
19	And when he had taken meat, he was strengthened. And he was with the disciples that were at Damascus, for some days.	and taking food, he was strengthened. For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus.	and after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.
20	And immediately he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.	And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.”	At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.
21	And all that heard him, were astonished, and said: Is not this he who persecuted in Jerusalem those that called upon this name: and came hither for that intent, that he might carry them bound to the chief priests?	And all who heard him were amazed and said, “Is not this the man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called upon this name? And has he not come here for this purpose, to bring them bound before the chief priests?”	All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?”
22	But Saul increased much more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, affirming that this is the Christ.	But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ.	Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.
23	And when many days were passed, the Jews consulted together to kill him.	When many days had passed, the Jews plotted to kill him,	After many days had gone by, there was a conspiracy among the Jews to kill him,
24	But their laying in wait was made known to Saul. And they watched the gates also day and night, that they might kill him.	but their plot became known to Saul. They were watching the gates day and night in order to kill him,	but Saul learned of their plan. Day and night they kept close watch on the city gates in order to kill him.
25	But the disciples taking him in the night, conveyed him away by the wall, letting him down in a basket.	but his disciples took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a basket.	But his followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall.
26	And when he was come into Jerusalem, he essayed to join himself to the disciples; and they all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.	And when he had come to Jerusalem, he attempted to join the disciples. And they were all afraid of him, for they did not believe that he was a disciple.	When he came to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple.
27	But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and told them how he had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken to him; and how in Damascus he had dealt confidently in the name of Jesus. 28	And he was with them coming in and going out in Jerusalem, and dealing confidently in the name of the Lord.	So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord.	So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.
29	He spoke also to the Gentiles, and disputed with the Greeks; but they sought to kill him.	And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists. But they were seeking to kill him.	He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him.
30	Which when the brethren had known, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him away to Tarsus.	And when the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.	When the believers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.
31	Now the church had peace throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria; and was edified, walking in the fear of the Lord, and was filled with the consolation of the Holy Ghost.	So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.	Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.
32	And it came to pass that Peter, as he passed through, visiting all, came to the saints who dwelt at Lydda.	Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.	As Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the Lord’s people who lived in Lydda.
33	And he found there a certain man named Eneas, who had kept his bed for eight years, who was ill of the palsy.	There he found a man named Aeneas, bedridden for eight years, who was paralyzed.	There he found a man named Aeneas, who was paralyzed and had been bedridden for eight years.
34	And Peter said to him: Eneas, the Lord Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And immediately he arose.	And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.” And immediately he rose.	“Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and roll up your mat.” Immediately Aeneas got up.
35	And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron, saw him: who were converted to the Lord.	And all the residents of Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.	All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
36	And in Joppe there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.	Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity.	In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor.
37	And it came to pass in those days that she was sick, and died. Whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.	In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.	About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.
38	And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppe, the disciples hearing that Peter was there, sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not be slack to come unto them.	Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Please come to us without delay.”	Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!”
39	And Peter rising up, went with them. And when he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber. And all the widows stood about him weeping, and shewing him the coats and garments which Dorcas made them.	So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them.	Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
40	And they all being put forth, Peter kneeling down prayed, and turning to the body, he said: Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and seeing Peter, she sat up.	But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.	Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.
41	And giving her his hand, he lifted her up. And when he had called the saints and the widows, he presented her alive.	And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.	He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive.
42	And it was made known throughout all Joppe; and many believed in the Lord.	And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.	This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
43	And it came to pass, that he abode many days in Joppe, with one Simon a tanner.	And he stayed in Joppa for many days with one Simon, a tanner.	Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon.
