5	And Saul said, “Who are You, Lord?” And He answered, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,	And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.	“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
6	now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”	But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.”	“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7	The men who were traveling with him [were terrified and] stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one. 8	Saul got up from the ground, but though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; so they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. 10	Now in Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he answered, “Here I am, Lord.”	Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.”	In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered.
11	And the Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and ask at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul; for he is praying [there],	And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying,	The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.
12	and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come in and place his hands on him, so that he may regain his sight.”	and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.”	In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”
13	But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, especially how much suffering and evil he has brought on Your saints (God’s people) at Jerusalem;	But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem.	“Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem.
14	and here [in Damascus] he has authority from the high priests to put in chains all who call on Your name [confessing You as Savior].”	And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”	And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”
15	But the Lord said to him, “Go, for this man is a [deliberately] chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;	But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.	But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.
16	for I will make clear to him how much he must suffer and endure for My name’s sake.”	For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”	I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
17	So Ananias left and entered the house, and he laid his hands on Saul and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came [to Damascus], has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit [in order to proclaim Christ to both Jews and Gentiles].”	So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”	Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18	Immediately something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized;	And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;	Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,
19	and he took some food and was strengthened. For several days [afterward] Saul remained with the disciples who were at Damascus.	and taking food, he was strengthened. 20	And immediately he began proclaiming Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “This Man is the Son of God [the promised Messiah]!”	And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.”	At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.
21	All those who heard him continued to be amazed and said, “Is this not the man who in Jerusalem attacked those who called on this name [of Jesus], and had come here [to Damascus] for the express purpose of bringing them bound [with chains] before the chief priests?”	And all who heard him were amazed and said, “Is not this the man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called upon this name? And has he not come here for this purpose, to bring them bound before the chief priests?”	All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?”
22	But Saul increased in strength more and more, and continued to perplex the Jews who lived in Damascus by examining [theological evidence] and proving [with Scripture] that this Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed).	But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ.	Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.
23	After considerable time had passed [about three years or so], the Jews plotted together to kill him,	When many days had passed, the Jews plotted to kill him,	After many days had gone by, there was a conspiracy among the Jews to kill him,
24	but their plot became known to Saul. They were also watching the city’s gates day and night so they could kill him;	but their plot became known to Saul. 26	When he arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple. 28	So he was with them, moving around freely [as one among them] in Jerusalem, speaking out boldly in the name of the Lord.	So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord.	So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.
29	He was talking and arguing with the Hellenists (Greek-speaking Jews); but they were attempting to kill him.	And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists. But they were seeking to kill him.	He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him.
30	When the brothers found out [about the plot], they brought him down to Caesarea [Maritima] and sent him off to Tarsus [his home town].	And when the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.	When the believers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.
31	So the church throughout Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace [without persecution], being built up [in wisdom, virtue, and faith]; and walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort and encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it continued to grow [in numbers].	So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.	Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.
32	Now as Peter was traveling throughout the land, he went down to [visit] the saints (God’s people) who lived at Lydda.	Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.	As Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the Lord’s people who lived in Lydda.
33	There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years and was paralyzed.	There he found a man named Aeneas, bedridden for eight years, who was paralyzed.	There he found a man named Aeneas, who was paralyzed and had been bedridden for eight years.
34	Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed.” Immediately Aeneas got up.	And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.” And immediately he rose.	“Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and roll up your mat.” Immediately Aeneas got up.
35	Then all who lived at Lydda and the plain of Sharon saw [what had happened to] him, and they turned to the Lord.	And all the residents of Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.	All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
36	Now in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, (which translated into Greek means Dorcas). She was rich in acts of kindness and charity which she continually did.	Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity.	In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor.
37	During that time it happened that she became sick and died; and when they had washed her body, they laid it in an upstairs room.	In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.	About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.
38	Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Come to us without delay.”	Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Please come to us without delay.”	Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!”
39	So Peter got up [at once] and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the upstairs room; and all the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing [him] all the tunics and robes that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.	So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them.	Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
40	But Peter sent them all out [of the room] and knelt down and prayed; then turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise!” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.	But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.	Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.
41	And he gave her his hand and helped her up; and then he called in the saints (God’s people) and the widows, and he presented her [to them] alive.	And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.	He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive.
42	This became known all over Joppa, and many came to believe in the Lord [that is, to adhere to and trust in and rely on Jesus as Christ and Savior].	And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.	This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
43	And so it was that Peter stayed in Joppa for many days with Simon, a tanner.	And he stayed in Joppa for many days with one Simon, a tanner.	Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon.
