1 And in the day of the Pentecost being fulfilled, they were all with one accord at the same place, When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
2 and there came suddenly out of the sky a sound as of a violent rushing wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting, And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 and there appeared to them divided tongues, as it were of fire; it also sat on each one of them, And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4 and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, according as the Spirit was giving them to declare. 6 and the rumor of this having come, the multitude came together, and was confounded, because they were, each one, hearing them speaking in his proper dialect, And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
7 and they were all amazed, and wondered, saying to one another, “Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?
8 And how do we hear, each in our proper dialect, in which we were born? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those dwelling in Mesopotamia, in Judea also, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia, Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 Phrygia also, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya that [are] along Cyrene, and the strangers of Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome
11 Cretes and Arabians, we heard them speaking the great things of God in our tongues.” both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying to one another, “What would this wish to be?” And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
13 And others mocking said, “They are full of sweet wine”; But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.” Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

Let this be known to you, and listen to my sayings, But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
15 for these are not drunken, as you take it up, for it is the third hour of the day. For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning!
16 But this is that which has been spoken through the prophet Joel: But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 And it will be in the last days, says God, || I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh, || And your sons and your daughters will prophesy, || And your young men will see visions, || And your old men will dream dreams; “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; “’In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18 And also on My menservants, and on My maidservants, || In those days, I will pour out of My Spirit, || And they will prophesy; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
19 And I will give wonders in the sky above, || And signs on the earth beneath—Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke, And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness, || And the moon to blood, || Before the coming of the Day of the LORD—the great and conspicuous; the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. 21 And it will be, everyone who, if he may have called on the Name of the LORD, will be saved. And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
22 Men, Israelites! Hear these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man approved of God among you by mighty works, and wonders, and signs, that God did through Him in the midst of you, according as also you yourselves have known, “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.
23 this One, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, being given out, having been taken by lawless hands, having been crucified—you slew, this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
24 whom God raised up, having loosed the travails of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it; God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.
25 for David says in regard to Him: I foresaw the LORD always before me—Because He is on my right hand—That I may not be moved; For David says concerning him, “‘I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken; David said about him: “’I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
26 Because of this was my heart cheered, || And my tongue was glad, || And yet—my flesh will also rest on hope, therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; my flesh also will dwell in hope. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope,
27 Because You will not leave my soul to Hades, || Nor will You give Your Holy One to see corruption; For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption. because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay.
28 You made known to me ways of life, || You will fill me with joy with Your countenance. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’ You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’
29 Men, brothers! It is permitted to speak with freedom to you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us to this day; “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.
30 therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God swore to him with an oath, out of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Christ, to sit on his throne, Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.
31 having foreseen, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left to Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay.
32 God raised up this Jesus, of which we are all witnesses; This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.
33 then having been exalted at the right hand of God—also having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father—He poured forth this which you now see and hear; Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
34 for David did not go up into the heavens, and he says himself: The LORD says to my Lord, || Sit at My right hand, For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, “’The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand
35 Until I make Your enemies Your footstool; until I make your enemies your footstool.”’ until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.|’
36 assuredly, therefore, let all the house of Israel know that God made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.” Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
37 And having heard, they were pricked to the heart; they also say to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, “What will we do, men, brothers?” Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 And Peter said to them, “Convert, and each of you be immersed on the Name of Jesus Christ, for forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 for the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those far off, as many as the LORD our God will call.” For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
40 Also with many more other words he was testifying and exhorting, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation”; And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
41 then those, indeed, who gladly received his word were immersed, and there were added on that day, as it were, three thousand souls, So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
42 and they were continuing steadfastly in the teaching of the apostles, and the fellowship, and the breaking of the bread, and the prayers. And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 45 and they were selling the possessions and the goods, and were parting them to all, according as anyone had need. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
46 Also continuing daily with one accord in the temple, also breaking bread at every house, they were partaking of food in gladness and simplicity of heart, And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
47 praising God, and having favor with all the people, and the LORD was adding those being saved every day to the Assembly. praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
