1 Sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal. The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. The descendants of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Karmi, Hur and Shobal.
2 And Reaiah son of Shobal begot Jahath, and Jahath begot Ahumai and Lahad; these [are] families of the Zorathite. Reaiah the son of Shobal fathered Jahath, and Jahath fathered Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites. Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.
3 And these [are] of the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister [is] Hazzelelponi; These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi, These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma and Idbash. Their sister was named Hazzelelponi.
4 and Penuel [is] father of Gedor, and Ezer father of Hushah. These [are] sons of Hur, firstborn of Ephratah, father of Beth-Lehem. and Penuel fathered Gedor, and Ezer fathered Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem. Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah and father of Bethlehem.
5 And to Ashhur father of Tekoa were two wives, Helah and Naarah; Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah; Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
6 and Naarah bears to him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari: these [are] sons of Naarah. Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni and Haahashtari. These were the descendants of Naarah.

9 And Jabez is honored above his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I have brought forth with grief.” Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.”
10 And Jabez calls to the God of Israel, saying, “If blessing You bless me, then You have made my border great, and Your hand has been with me, and You have kept [me] from evil—not to grieve me”; and God brings in that which he asked. Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
11 And Chelub brother of Shuah begot Mehir; he [is] father of Eshton. Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, fathered Mehir, who fathered Eshton. Kelub, Shuhah’s brother, was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12 And Eshton begot Beth-Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah father of Ir-Nahash; these [are] men of Rechah. Eshton fathered Beth-rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah. Eshton was the father of Beth Rapha, Paseah and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These were the men of Rekah.
13 And sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah; and sons of Othniel: Hathath. The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah; and the sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai. The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai.
14 And Meonothai begot Ophrah, and Seraiah begot Joab father of the Valley of the Craftsmen, for they were craftsmen. Meonothai fathered Ophrah; and Seraiah fathered Joab, the father of Ge-harashim, so-called because they were craftsmen. Meonothai was the father of Ophrah. Seraiah was the father of Joab, the father of Ge Harashim. It was called this because its people were skilled workers.
15 And sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and sons of Elah: even Kenaz. The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the son of Elah: Kenaz. The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.
16 And sons of Jehaleleel: Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel. The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel. The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel.
17 And sons of Ezra: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon. And she bears Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah father of Eshtemoa. The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. These are the sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered married; and she conceived and bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa. The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher and Jalon. One of Mered’s wives gave birth to Miriam, Shammai and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
18 And his wife Jehudijah bore Jered father of Gedor, and Heber father of Socho, and Jekuthiel father of Zanoah. And these [are] sons of Bithiah daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took, And his Judahite wife bore Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. (His wife from the tribe of Judah gave birth to Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soko, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.) These were the children of Pharaoh’s daughter Bithiah, whom Mered had married.
19 and sons of the wife of Hodiah sister of Nahom: Abi-Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite. The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maacathite. The sons of Hodiah’s wife, the sister of Naham: the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maakathite.
20 And sons of Shimon: Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-Hanon, and Tilon; and sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben-Zoheth. The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-zoheth. The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-Hanan and Tilon. The descendants of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-Zoheth.
21 Sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er father of Lecah, and Laadah father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of the service of fine linen, of the house of Ashbea; The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the clans of the house of linen workers at Beth-ashbea; The sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er the father of Lekah, Laadah the father of Mareshah and the clans of the linen workers at Beth Ashbea,
22 and Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who ruled over Moab and Jashubi-Lehem; and these things [are] ancient. and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who ruled in Moab and returned to Lehem (now the records are ancient). Jokim, the men of Kozeba, and Joash and Saraph, who ruled in Moab and Jashubi Lehem. (These records are from ancient times.)
23 They [are] the potters and inhabitants of Netaim and Gedera; they dwelt there with the king in his work. These were the potters who were inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah. They lived there in the king’s service. They were the potters who lived at Netaim and Gederah; they stayed there and worked for the king.
24 Sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul; The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul; The descendants of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah and Shaul;
25 Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son. Shallum was his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son. Shallum was Shaul’s son, Mibsam his son and Mishma his son.

27 And to Shimei [are] sixteen sons and six daughters, and to his brothers there are not many sons, and none of their families have multiplied as much as the sons of Judah. 32 And their villages [are] Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan—five cities, And their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities, Their surrounding villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Token and Ashan—five towns—
33 and all their villages that [are] around these cities to Ba‘al; these [are] their dwellings, and they have their genealogy: along with all their villages that were around these cities as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept a genealogical record. and all the villages around these towns as far as Baalath. These were their settlements. And they kept a genealogical record.
34 even Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah son of Amaziah, Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah, Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of Amaziah,

36 and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah, Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, also Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,
37 and Ziza son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah. Ziza the son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah— and Ziza son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.
38 These who are coming in by name [are] princes in their families, and the house of their fathers has broken forth into a multitude; these mentioned by name were princes in their clans, and their fathers’ houses increased greatly. The men listed above by name were leaders of their clans. Their families increased greatly,
39 and they go to the entrance of Gedor, to the east of the valley, to seek pasture for their flock, They journeyed to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks, and they went to the outskirts of Gedor to the east of the valley in search of pasture for their flocks.
40 and they find pasture, fat and good, and the land broad of sides, and quiet, and safe, for those dwelling there before are of Ham. where they found rich, good pasture, and the land was very broad, quiet, and peaceful, for the former inhabitants there belonged to Ham. They found rich, good pasture, and the land was spacious, peaceful and quiet. Some Hamites had lived there formerly.
41 And these who are written by name come in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and strike their tents, and the habitations that have been found there, and devote them to destruction to this day, and dwell in their stead, because pasture for their flock [is] there. These, registered by name, came in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah, and destroyed their tents and the Meunites who were found there, and marked them for destruction to this day, and settled in their place, because there was pasture there for their flocks. The men whose names were listed came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. They attacked the Hamites in their dwellings and also the Meunites who were there and completely destroyed them, as is evident to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks.
42 And of them, of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men have gone to Mount Seir, and Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, sons of Ishi, at their head, And some of them, five hundred men of the Simeonites, went to Mount Seir, having as their leaders Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi. And five hundred of these Simeonites, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, invaded the hill country of Seir.
43 and they strike the remnant of those escaped of Amalek, and dwell there to this day. And they defeated the remnant of the Amalekites who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day. They killed the remaining Amalekites who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.
