1The sons of Israel were Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,1Here's a list of Israel's sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. Descendants of Judah2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
3Judah had three sons from Bathshua, a Canaanite woman. Their names were Er, Onan, and Shelah. But the LORD saw that the oldest son, Er, was a wicked man, so he killed him.3Judah's three sons Er, Onan, and Shelah were born to him through Bath-shua, a Canaanite. Er, Judah's firstborn, became wicked in the LORD's sight, so he put him to death.
4Later Judah had twin sons from Tamar, his widowed daughter-in-law. Their names were Perez and Zerah. So Judah had five sons in all.4Judah's daughter-in-law Tamar also bore him Perez and Zerah, so Judah had five sons in all.
5The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.5Perez's sons were Hezron and Hamul.
6The sons of Zerah were Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Darda —five in all.6Zerah had five sons in all: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara.
7The son of Carmi (a descendant of Zimri) was Achan, who brought disaster on Israel by taking plunder that had been set apart for the LORD.7Carmi's son was Achar, who became Israel's troublemaker by transgressing the LORD's commandment regarding things that were to be destroyed.
8The son of Ethan was Azariah. From Judah’s Grandson Hezron to David8Ethan's son was Azariah.
9The sons of Hezron were Jerahmeel, Ram, and Caleb.9Hezron's sons born to him were Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai.
10Ram was the father of Amminadab. Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, a leader of Judah.10Ram fathered Amminadab, and Amminadab fathered Nahshon, who was leader of the descendants of Judah.
11Nahshon was the father of Salmon. Salmon was the father of Boaz.11Nahshon fathered Salma, Salma fathered Boaz,
12Boaz was the father of Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse.12Boaz fathered Obed, and Obed fathered Jesse.
13Jesse’s first son was Eliab, his second was Abinadab, his third was Shimea,13Jesse fathered Eliab his firstborn, Abinadab his second born, Shimea his third born,
14his fourth was Nethanel, his fifth was Raddai,14Nethanel his fourth born, Raddai his fifth born,
15his sixth was Ozem, and his seventh was David.15Ozem his sixth born, David his seventh born;
16Their sisters were named Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah had three sons named Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.16along with their sisters Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah's three sons were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.
17Abigail married a man named Jether, an Ishmaelite, and they had a son named Amasa. Other Descendants of Hezron17Abigail bore Amasa, whose father was Jether the Ishmaelite.
18Hezron’s son Caleb had sons from his wife Azubah and from Jerioth. Her sons were named Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.18Hezron's son Caleb had children by his wife Azubah and by Jerioth. These were her sons: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
19After Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrathah, and they had a son named Hur.19When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur.
20Hur was the father of Uri. Uri was the father of Bezalel.20Hur fathered Uri, and Uri fathered Bezalel.
21When Hezron was sixty years old, he married Gilead’s sister, the daughter of Makir. They had a son named Segub.21Later, Hezron married the daughter of Machir, who had fathered Gilead. He married her when he was 60 years old, and she bore him Segub.
22Segub was the father of Jair, who ruled twenty-three towns in the land of Gilead.22Segub fathered Jair, who had 23 towns in the land of Gilead.
23(But Geshur and Aram captured the Towns of Jair and also took Kenath and its sixty surrounding villages.) All these were descendants of Makir, the father of Gilead.23But Geshur and Aram took 60 towns from Gilead, including Havvoth-jair and Kenath, along with their villages. All these were descendants of Machir, who fathered Gilead.
24Soon after Hezron died in the town of Caleb-ephrathah, his wife Abijah gave birth to a son named Ashhur (the father of Tekoa). Descendants of Hezron’s Son Jerahmeel24After Hezron died in Caleb-ephrathah, Abijah wife of Hezron bore him Ashhur, who fathered Tekoa.
25The sons of Jerahmeel, the oldest son of Hezron, were Ram (the firstborn), Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.25The descendants of Jerahmeel, the firstborn of Hezron, were Ram his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
26Jerahmeel had a second wife named Atarah. She was the mother of Onam.26Jerahmeel also had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.
27The sons of Ram, the oldest son of Jerahmeel, were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.27The descendants of Ram, firstborn of Jerahmeel were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
28The sons of Onam were Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai were Nadab and Abishur.28Onam's descendants were Shammai and Jada. Shammai's descendants were Nadab and Abishur.
29The sons of Abishur and his wife Abihail were Ahban and Molid.29Abishur's wife was named Abihail. She bore him Ahban and Molid.
30The sons of Nadab were Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children,30Nadab's descendants were Seled and Appaim. Seled died childless.
31but Appaim had a son named Ishi. The son of Ishi was Sheshan. Sheshan had a descendant named Ahlai.31Appaim's son was Ishi. Ishi's son was Sheshan. Sheshan's son was Ahlai.
32The sons of Jada, Shammai’s brother, were Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children,32Shammai's brother Jada's descendants were Jether and Jonathan, but Jether died childless.
33but Jonathan had two sons named Peleth and Zaza. These were all descendants of Jerahmeel.33Jonathan's descendants were Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahmeel.
34Sheshan had no sons, though he did have daughters. He also had an Egyptian servant named Jarha.34Now Sheshan had no sons, only daughters. However, Sheshan had an Egyptian slave named Jarha.
35Sheshan gave one of his daughters to be the wife of Jarha, and they had a son named Attai.35So Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his slave Jarha, and she bore him Attai.
36Attai was the father of Nathan. Nathan was the father of Zabad.36Attai fathered Nathan, and Nathan fathered Zabad.
37Zabad was the father of Ephlal. Ephlal was the father of Obed.37Zabad fathered Ephlal, Ephlal fathered Obed,
38Obed was the father of Jehu. Jehu was the father of Azariah.38Obed fathered Jehu, Jehu fathered Azariah,
39Azariah was the father of Helez. Helez was the father of Eleasah.39Azariah fathered Helez, Helez fathered Eleasah,
40Eleasah was the father of Sismai. Sismai was the father of Shallum.40Eleasah fathered Sismai, Sismai fathered Shallum.
41Shallum was the father of Jekamiah. Jekamiah was the father of Elishama. Descendants of Hezron’s Son Caleb41Shallum fathered Jekamiah, and Jekamiah fathered Elishama.
42The descendants of Caleb, the brother of Jerahmeel, included Mesha (the firstborn), who became the father of Ziph. Caleb’s descendants also included the sons of Mareshah, the father of Hebron.42Jerahmeel's brother Caleb's descendants were his firstborn Mesha, who fathered Ziph. The descendants of Mareshah, who fathered Hebron, were as follows:
43The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.43Hebron's descendants were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44Shema was the father of Raham. Raham was the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai.44Shema fathered Raham, who fathered Jorkeam. Rekem fathered Shammai.
45The son of Shammai was Maon. Maon was the father of Beth-zur.45Shammai's descendants included Maon, who fathered Beth-zur.
46Caleb’s concubine Ephah gave birth to Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.46Caleb's mistress Ephah also bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran fathered Gazez.
47The sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.47Jahdai's descendants were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48Another of Caleb’s concubines, Maacah, gave birth to Sheber and Tirhanah.48Caleb's mistress Maacah bore Sheber, Tirhanah,
49She also gave birth to Shaaph (the father of Madmannah) and Sheva (the father of Macbenah and Gibea). Caleb also had a daughter named Acsah.49and Shaaph, who fathered Madmannah. Sheva fathered Machbenah and Gibe. Caleb's daughter was Achsah.
50These were all descendants of Caleb. Descendants of Caleb’s Son Hur The sons of Hur, the oldest son of Caleb’s wife Ephrathah, were Shobal (the founder of Kiriath-jearim),50These were Caleb's descendants. The son? of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, was Shobal, who fathered Kiriath-jearim,
51Salma (the founder of Bethlehem), and Hareph (the founder of Beth-gader).51Salma, who fathered Bethlehem, and Hareph, who fathered Beth-gader.
52The descendants of Shobal (the founder of Kiriath-jearim) were Haroeh, half the Manahathites,52Shobal, who fathered Kiriath-jearim, had other sons, including Haroeh, half of the Menuhoth.
53and the families of Kiriath-jearim—the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites, from whom came the people of Zorah and Eshtaol.53The families of Kiriath-jearim included the Ithrites, the Puthites, the Shumathites, and the Mishraites. The Zorathites and the Eshtaolites came from them.
54The descendants of Salma were the people of Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, the other half of the Manahathites, the Zorites,54Salma's descendants were Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, and half of the Manahathites, the Zorites.
55and the families of scribes living at Jabez—the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. All these were Kenites who descended from Hammath, the father of the family of Recab.55The families of the scribes who lived at Jabez included the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came from Hammath, who fathered the house of Rechab.
