Psalm 60
NKJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionInternational Standard Version
To the Chief Musician. Set to “Lily of the Testimony.” A Michtam of David. For teaching. When he fought against Mesopotamia and Syria of Zobah, and Joab returned and killed twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have cast us off; You have broken us down; You have been displeased; Oh, restore us again!1God, you have cast us off; you have breached our defenses and you have become enraged. Return to us!
You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.2You made the earth quake; you broke it open. Repair its fractures, because it has shifted.
You have shown Your people hard things; You have made us drink the wine of confusion.3You made your people go through hard times; you had us drink wine that makes us stagger.
You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah4But you have given a banner to those who fear you, so they may display it in honor of truth. Interlude
That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and hear me.5So your loved ones may be delivered, save us by your power and answer us quickly!
God has spoken in His holiness: “I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem And measure out the Valley of Succoth.6Then God spoke in his holiness, "I will rejoice— I will divide Shechem; I will portion out the Succoth Valley.
Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet for My head; Judah is My lawgiver.7Gilead belongs to me, and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim is my helmet, and Judah my scepter.
Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me.”8Moab is my wash basin; over Edom I will throw my shoes; over Philistia I will celebrate my triumph."
Who will bring me to the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom?9Who will lead me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?10Aren't you the one, God, who has cast us off? Didn't you refuse, God, to accompany our armies?
Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless.11Help us in our distress, for human help is worthless.
Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.12Through God we will fight valiantly; and it is he who will crush our enemies.
