Psalm 60
NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
To the Chief Musician. Set to “Lily of the Testimony.” A Michtam of David. For teaching. When he fought against Mesopotamia and Syria of Zobah, and Joab returned and killed twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have cast us off; You have broken us down; You have been displeased; Oh, restore us again!1O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; oh, restore us.
You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.2You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair its breaches, for it totters.
You have shown Your people hard things; You have made us drink the wine of confusion.3You have made your people see hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger.
You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah4You have set up a banner for those who fear you, that they may flee to it from the bow. Selah
That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and hear me.5That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us!
God has spoken in His holiness: “I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem And measure out the Valley of Succoth.6God has spoken in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth.
Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet for My head; Judah is My lawgiver.7Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter.
Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me.”8Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.”
Who will bring me to the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom?9Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?10Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies.
Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless.11Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man!
Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.12With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.
