| 1For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. | 1For the law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. |
| 2For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. | 2If it could, would not the offerings have ceased? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt the guilt of their sins. |
| 3But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. | 3Instead, those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, |

| 9then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. | 9Then He adds, “Here I am, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first to establish the second. |
| 10By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. | 10And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. |
| 11And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. | 11Day after day every priest stands to minister and to offer again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. |

| 27but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. | 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume all adversaries. |

| 34for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. | 34You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, knowing that you yourselves had a better and permanent possession. |
| 35Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. | 35So do not throw away your confidence; it holds a great reward. |
