Psalm 83
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
A song, a psalm of Asaph. O God, do not be silent! Do not ignore us! Do not be inactive, O God! 1O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
For look, your enemies are making a commotion; those who hate you are hostile. 2For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads.
They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish. 3They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones.
They say, "Come on, let's annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more." 4They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”
Yes, they devise a unified strategy; they form an alliance against you. 5For they conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant—
It includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, 6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites,
Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre. 7Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Even Assyria has allied with them, lending its strength to the descendants of Lot. (Selah) 8Asshur also has joined them; they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah
Do to them as you did to Midian--as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River! 9Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
They were destroyed at Endor; their corpses were like manure on the ground. 10who were destroyed at En-dor, who became dung for the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna, 11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
who said, "Let's take over the pastures of God!" 12who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God.”
O my God, make them like dead thistles, like dead weeds blown away by the wind! 13O my God, make them like whirling dust, like chaff before the wind.
Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, 14As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze,
chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm. 15so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane!
Cover their faces with shame, so they might seek you, O LORD. 16Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O LORD.
May they be humiliated and continually terrified! May they die in shame! 17Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace,
Then they will know that you alone are the LORD, the sovereign king over all the earth. 18that they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.
